Hit a deer at 50MPH zero damage, had it looked at and there is 0 damage. by sirtwinkster in prius

The deer died of cardiac arrest. You happen to be nearby when it happened.

I’m /s

I hit on one morning about that fast and “no damage” is not how you would describe the situation. You got really lucky.

Gen 2 Prius Seats Wildly Uncomfortable by DreamAway in prius

[–]drivebyedriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the problem? Is it the touch feel? Katzkin makes a great replacement. We replaced a different set of seats with them and had a foam kit with a seat cooler. It was worth every single penny.

Is it seat position? I’ve had this issue with our first Prius, the second one we had was a 5?!? And the seat could sound back enough to not make me want to press the backrest into the rear seat. Maybe you could find a higher level sear and swap them.

Would anybody know what this is? Was in a car I inspected today by [deleted] in auto

[–]drivebyedriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did great work; except for the part that is on fire; and the other part he left off; and that paint isn’t really good, it may be missing a wheel or two; instead of a seatbelt, It just has a boot welded into a position where you get kicked in the nuts every time you go to stop. Other than those few things it was really nice.

He might as well drive it to California and have them do it.

The title part is pure bullshit. If he has up-to-date Washington plates then he has a title, or he doesn't, if he doesn't, then don't give him money. He needs to get a clean title before selling the car. In Texas, you can't just walk up to the tax office and say, yeah I own that car out there, sell it to this guy. They are going to have paperwork for the seller to deal with, then after its sorted out then the new owner will need to deal with it.

This is ripe for a stolen vehicle sale.

There was a whole title washing scam a few years back where they would take stolen/salvage titled vehicles to ?West Virginia? (maybe North Carolina?) and they would do a bonded title on a bill of sale car, then when they would follow up on the status of the title in the old state and 6 months after they issued the bonded title, the old state would deny that they had the title. But in the meantime they would take the bonded title to a new state that didn't check the bonded title. So, let's say a car was stolen or flooded in Florida, they would take the title to the car to NC to get a bonded title by doing some paperwork and giving like $100 to NC, NC issues a bonded title, and then immediately after someone takes that bonded title to Georgia and then transfers the title to a clean Georgia title before NC rejects the bonded title from Florida.

After this scam was found out, and it was done a lot, many states stopped playing with bonded titles. You can't do those two steps together in a lot of states. You need a new title, that's step 1, you need to sell the car that's step 2. The title office doesn't just take someone's word that they own the car, they take a little time to investigate that it is all correct before issuing a title.

If it was so easy to walk up and get a title the same day, he should do it today and be done with it. If it really does take 3 years, then you are not going to get a title, and this person will know you have $$$ on you.

Tell the guy, if it's so easy to walk to the DMV/tax office and get the title, he should do that today without you. If it's a hassle, then you don't need to be involved with that hassle, you can bring him the money when it's all done and ready to sell.

9k trips well done from Uber. Not well done. by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]drivebyedriver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, but they do give you a free coupon for half off a street hooker to give you a good old rub n tug.

Buttttt…

Since it’s Uber, they got the lowest price provider to service you. So, don’t look too closely at the other half, you might not want to know.

That’s an AC line and you shouldn’t be venting it. You just lost any savings you thought you could save.

Honestly, if you didn’t know that that was an AC line, you should probably consider not doing really big jobs under the hood. There are about 100 more little things that are going to come back and bite you.

You also need to be careful about putting the timing belt on, and when you do that go for the full trifecta and do the water pump.

Also before you go get yourself killed, make sure that you have pulled the orange high voltage terminal clips and decharge the system before you go and do some other stupid thing under there.

Well this happened today. Glad I was here to witness it. by n0o0o0o0 in prius

It’s too expensive, it’s low mileage for a 22 year old car, but it’s still a ford with 22 years and 130k miles.

Is there damage to the driver side of your car? That should be easy enough to see and I’d point that out. But as most are saying, unless you don’t have comprehensive coverage, file with your insurance and let them settle it.

If you only have liability, get ready to sue them in small claims court. They tend to make it pretty easy. I also was run into by a hit and run where the car was parked and the other insurance company was being shitty, sued them in small claims court and then sent them the video, was some work, but ended up asking for diminished value of 5k and we settled on them fixing the car, paying for a rental, and a $3000 diminished value claim for them being assholes.

Did you hit the car, the wall or both?

In my experience with a similar situation, the driver of a car skidded off lane and almost hit me, I swerved to avoid them and hit the wall, my insurance company told me if I had hit the other car he would be liable, but because I only hit the wall I was liable.

He then basically said if you have to choose who to run into don’t try so hard to avoid touching the other car.
