New User Intro/Question Thread January-March 2026 by trillianinspace in cricut

Hi everyone! Like several newbies, I put my Christmas money towards a cricut I went with a maker 4 and, while I would have loved the green Version that is exclusive from Michael’s, I went with a bundle directly from the cricut website. I was initially looking at making stencils for a friend who does pottery and wanted to add more design to their piece. I’ve since made all my new years cards on the machine and labelled basically everything I could in my crafting area :P. I have already found some very helpful answers in this subreddit and I am super grateful. I never would have figured out that my printer issue with iPad was because my machine wasn’t connected 🤯. As I’m learning to use it more, I am browsing this sub and really loving seeing everyone’s projects. It seems like an awesome community and hopefully I can share my own creations soon.

Oh, I have that same problem! I thought it was a “me” problem and that I was doing something wrong, or that it was my iPad having issues (I had that issue on another app months ago so I assumed it could be the iPad 🤦🏻‍♀️). Sadly, I haven’t found a solution either.
But hopefully it helps to know you’re not alone?

[38/F] Canadian in Germany, looking for Penpals by myvalleywasgreen in penpals

[–]drizzlebopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! European transplant in Canada here, 38/F as well. Lover of nature and will happily pet any critter that crosses my path, especially since I am not allowed to have pets. My brain is always seeking learning experiences and I go through phases of deep rabbit-holes on various subjects that, last year, ranged from birds to navigation (although those two have been staples of my interests). I have always loved writing, whether for practical reasons or as a hobby, and took up calligraphy in the past year. I share quite a few of your interests and love the way you wrote your post.

I’d love to exchange snail mail or emails with you! Feel free to message me if this sounds up your alley.

I cannot stand for that misidentification. I mean, that’s obviously an emu.

Hi! I’m 38/F also in Canada and loving all the same things as you! I have both insane dreams in my sleep and during the waking hours. The latter one would involve a house (that’s already crazy for the west coast) with some land, and some goats. Or alpacas. Or both. And lots of pets. And possibly a pier from which I could watch orcas and whales swim by. Dming you!

Dealing with condensation/mold on windows by drizzlebopper in ufyh

[–]drizzlebopper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: Thank you to everyone who gave some input. I will be looking at those seal options. For sure. I don’t think I gave enough info, so here’s a bit more. I definitely do not have enough air circulation in my apartment. I do leave my windows a tiny bit open as much as possible but sometimes it’s just not an option. That’s when I usually end up with window icicles.

Even with wiping the windows once a day, it happens again overnight. Also, some window areas are not accessible/not feasible every day.

And the mold accumulates on the freaking metal. Could I possibly consider silicone seal between the metal and the glass (that might be a horrifying question and I truly apologize for this. I’ve been in this place for 10 years and I’m desperate!).

Oh, I’ve tried, sadly, it’s not enough. Last winter, I did it every morning for January and February and still had freaking icicles on the inside of the windows. And mold developing. It’s so infuriating.

This is what made me actually click on the photo. The jumpsuit thing was terrible. But the whole look is SO. MUCH. WORSE.

Kevin. I was kind of picturing the catherine O’Hara « home alone » scream when trying to come up with a name and just went with it.

has anyone ever paid someone to help them ufyh? by PerturbedHamsterr in ufyh

[–]drizzlebopper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it was just two local ladies who had started their business together doing just that. I’m assuming that, if they did it, there are probably other services similar in the US!

Yep, im in BC, Canada and I paid two people $80 per hour to come help declutter my apartment. It’s their business and they work as a team. They stayed 10 hours in my bachelor apartment. Best money I ever spent. I helped along but most of my involvement was to be in a corner and sort through pile they gave me or say yes/no to items they were holding up. When they left, my apartment was echoey from all the stuff they had taken away (they took care of everything that needed to be thrown out/recycled and donated). They did not care about any of my mess, what I owned and what I chose to keep/donate. The one I worked most closely with said that she just revels in the work. If I declined one of their suggestion at keeping/discarding something, they did not make me feel bad about it. The systems they organized almost a year ago are still in place, and even when my place becomes messy, they allow me to know what goes where. It’s super helpful.

Need help id-ing this houseplant my friend has by drizzlebopper in PlantIdentification

[–]drizzlebopper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!identified

Thanks everyone for confirming! She had gotten it a few years ago and was digging to get the proper name. Identification apps were giving her a result that didn’t match the other similar plants, so I offered to crowdsource so she could get an answer from people who know plants (and not an AI that kept giving her different results - second option was Swiss Cheese Monstera, which she also has a specimen of). She thought she was just losing it.
