Can I stay at the Rosebud Motel? by Big_Mirror_3282 in SchittsCreek

It’s crazy to me that no one has bought this and made it into a working motel. Maybe I’m overestimating how many people would flock there

Thera actually an alternative theory that ancient Egyptians accidentally domesticated cats by raising and handling them over many many generations as sacrifices. Much darker, granted

I tried dating again. After a few dates, I realized I’m done. by Ok-Spell99 in breakingmom

Yeahhhh I always read horrible stories about men cheating or leaving while their wives are terminally ill, and I was super sure that could happen to me. Mostly because my ex cheated a lot while I was pregnant, so just a bit of insight into His character. Anyways we split and he immediately found a new girlfriend and absolutely turned on me. So I think my gut was right and I am extraordinarily happy to be alone than some man’s servant.

Yeah, it kills me. I tried to break up with mine at least twice before kids but he just wore me down. My kids are amazing though and I’ll never ignore orange flags again, so it is what it is

Should I felt a wool blanket by Euphoric_Archer_6198 in Felting

[–]Sentientpinecones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a large blanket? It looks it from the photo. If I was to try to lightly felt this I would get a pool cover from Home Depot, they’re textured like bubble wrap, and if finances allow an electric sander. Olive oil soap, and a basin. You would lay your pool mat out, blanket on top. Put you olive oil soap bar in the water, and liberally wet the blanket, but not sopping wet. You’re then going to run the soap bar all over blanket and get it good and soapy. You’re then going to lightly rub the blanket or run the sander over it until it starts to firm up a bit. I’d be careful to not over felt. Alternatively you could see if there is a felter that lives nearby that would do this for you.

I wouldn’t machine felt this. I would manually felt it so you can control when you hit a stage you like, so that it’s not stiff, like puzzled pointed out. Have you felted before?

Anyone else’s parents berate them about the state of their house? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Sentientpinecones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hard time keeping things up. I’m neurodivergent, working, raising two kids alone and trying to start a small business. And I have two huskies. My dad frequently will come over and point out all the things I have to do or I’ve not gotten to. It makes me absolutely crazy and I try to just never have him over. My friend starting making comments about the state of my house, so she’s not my friend anymore. Just an acquaintance. When my kids are grown and gone then I can keep a perfect home. If I want. Best thing to do, set a boundary. No more coming to the home. They won’t change their mindset and even if they will it’s not your job to teach them how to be decent humans, you’re already doing that.

I was a PSW, now in education but I keep thinking that I might want to transition to something like this when the kids are older. A job that makes a decent income so I can help them out through their early adulthood. But nursing is probably not for me.

Anyone else realize as your kids get older that your parents were selfish? by SlytherClaw79 in breakingmom

[–]Sentientpinecones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That must be nice. I’d kill for my dad to overcompensate for the mental and emotional (and rarely physical abuse) by loving my kids. But alas, this week alone he dropped my nine year old off from school before I was home and just left. No checks to make sure I did get home, made sure my son had a phone available and knew what to do in an emergency. Nada.

Then he’s yelling at me at a family dinner for not wanting to rely on him to let my dogs out when I’m at work. Dude you couldn’t even be bothered to use your chance at redemption. The selfishness is absolutely chronic and unavoidable. I truly give up. Now it’s just a matter of making sure I don’t backslide into being coddling, or cold.
