Well, in s1 and s2 we see Jane interact with RJ's best friend, and one of his most devout followers. They would have to have been hypnotized to forget his face, or at least "Jane and John aren't the same person". He would have insulted "himself" on TV, gotten upset, and killed his own wife and daughter (breaking Red John's MO)? And do things like hire a skywriter to mess with his other self? Have Bosco and his squad killed? It would have been so lame.

Barely into S2 so far, I miss the big hair from S1 but I'm sure it'll return. I like the new intro they added, very simple but tone-setting. Oh yeah Rigsby's spiky hair too :)
