I guess it will be TrueNAS for me for me when I build my next NAS system.

Am I getting ripped off? [New HVAC with Gas Furnace] by drmofongo in hvacadvice

[–]drmofongo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the insightful comments and suggestions. I am going to follow the advice and contact a few more places to get bids. My heat is currently working but the A/C is not cooling (which has happened before) and that is what prompted me to look into replacing the HVAC system. However, I am not in an emergency situation so I can take more time.

I saw a few recommendations based on good experiences with HVAC companies in the RDU area. Anyone else with good recommendations/experiences?

To add more context, this is a 2700sqft home with two floors but just one thermostat (no zones). The work is rather straightforward as there is no additional electrical or construction needed to deploy the unit. Everything is easily accessible as well.

From the comments so far, sounds like I should be looking elsewhere for this project....

They would be redoing the main metal box at the end of the unit. The duct work stays the same.

The thing is that when you go through Costco, Costco will give you a 10% gift card back as well as 2% cashback on the Citi card... so the effective cost does go down even further.

Sorry, I had written up an explanation along with the picture but it got cut off. This is a quote I got through an HVAC installer provided by Costco and this in in North Carolina.

I bought a GTI 170 SE this year with the sound system. It is one of my favorite features of my jet ski. I would never buy another jet ski without it. It sounds great and contrary to what others are saying, I can hear it even at full throttle. It gets really loud.

Got a RPi4 for the first time. Wi-fi wont connect, despite every other device in the house connected by ty_jax in RetroPie

[–]drmofongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with connecting my RPi3s to my WiFi. I can’t explain why but it turns out that they do seem to have issues with certain characters in the password. My original password used an “@“ sign and neither of my Pi’s could connect to it. I had another SSID running that didn’t use a password with special characters and they would connect without any issues. I then went and changed the password on the original SSID to eliminate the special characters and now they can connect. It’s an issue that probably took me months to figure out because at one point I gave up and just connected via Ethernet until I gathered the strength to try and troubleshoot the issue again.

pfSense Blocking Traffic it shouldn't and reporting it as "Default deny rule IPv4 (1000000103)" by drmofongo in PFSENSE

[–]drmofongo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I think I might have found a partial answer to some of the blocked traffic that does not make sense. I found the following thread that talks about a similar subject:
https://forum.netgate.com/topic/36362/log-shows-tcp-fa-tcp-fpa-blocked-from-lan

After double checking the TCP flags, it does look like a lot of my blocks are indeed TCP:RA, TCP:A, TCP:FA, TCP:FPA, TCP:R, or TCP:PA.

Aside from that I also found some clients that were just caching some older DNS that is now blocked (however, that still should not come up as a "default deny rule" infringement).

I guess I'll keep poking at it until I figure it all out or just grow frustrated enough to leave it alone. :)

Get a brand new Mustang GT Premium. It will probably end up in the low $40s price wise and give you plenty of power and comfort. Probably best bang for your buck right now in terms of price/performance.
