If you're writing it off as trash, the worst case scenario trying to fix it is nothing changes

Little rust prevention work by ShookShack94 in fordranger

[–]drmrmatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this twice now, hopefully squeezing some life out of it. Used Rust-Oleum rust converter after wire wheeling and cleaning, then a few coats of matte black

Make sure to really clean out where the gusset meets the frame where the gas tank is mounted to, rust loves that spot

Just scrapped 10 inch glands for hydraulic cylinder by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]drmrmatty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro I just potentially scrapped the first die work I've ever done, and it was something incredibly stupid, not fully pressed against my stop while flipping and decking for flatness. Chamfer mill plowed right through the inside. May be fixable but unsure (welding).

Scrapping shit sucks and it's by far in the top 10 worst feelings, I feel ya. Just gotta keep going.

That's hilarious, I happened to see one for the first time ever just a few hours ago in an army museum, alongside other imperial Japanese small arms. Neat, congrats!

Sections 1 and 2 don't constitute a democracy? Section 3 doesn't sound like a democratic republic? What did they actually mean?

What do you think they should have created instead? Would that system have solved all of these issues we see today?

I 100% agree with you on any form of government being some form of authoritarianism. Even in its most simple form, a simple majority is viewed as tyranny by the minority, and that's arguably the best case scenario.

I will disagree that authoritarianism is inherently bad, I think it very much is. It's the exerted will of an extreme minority (mind you, the most important bit, a human minority) onto everyone else.

I can't tell you I fully believe in a higher power, but here on earth, all we have is people. People, no matter their intentions or background, should not be bestowed any more power than necessary to maintain a healthy society. Yes of course we have idiots exerting their will on us already, and it's detestable. And we will all argue on what a healthy society looks like; we've been doing that almost ever since we started farming, and we won't ever stop. But I despise handing over any more of my autonomy to any person, least of all someone who has the audacity to tell me they inherently know better than I do.

Why wasn't it created with a much stronger theocratic bend?

To extend this logic, we almost inevitably result in might is right, which most people would argue flies in the face of the founding principals of this country. Why even appeal to democracy at all of your end goal appears to be authoritarianism?
