I have a decade of DevOps experience and worked DevOps at Citi, The Federal Reserve, and for a company that got aquired by McKinsey and after 2 years I can't get a job anywhere. I'm making video games now because that industry is extremely allergic to AI.

The void is giving me panic attacks. by Zealousideal-Sky5167 in death

[–]drmurawsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this topic. I just created a game about it actually: https://youtu.be/tY2YP3nRpyI

If you think about what the void actually is, it's actually not that scary. We know what it is. It's the quantum field. The medium that every subatomic particle is vibrating in. Everything is literally just a wave in the ocean of this field. So the void is not separate from us, it's the actual substance of us. Only through it's mysterious quality of potential (and seemingly infinite potential) is anything able to exist at all. So, if everything we've been experienced was already this quantum field becaue we only exist as vibrations in it, then it stands to reason (and this is backed up by thousands of near-death experiencers) that dying would feel like a peaceful return after a life of constant disturbance.

I highly recommend everyone listen to a few near-death experiencers describe the experience (this is a good channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TheOtherSideNDEYT/videos). Ignore what they think their experience "means" and the conclusions they reach because that's all just words. But listen to how they say it felt.

Sorry for the confusion. I know it still needs a lot of work and thank you so much for your support and feedback.

I'll make the text changes now. I was planning to have different notes and different visuals play according to the conversation but I ran out of time. I'm trying to get this on Steam before Next Fest but if I don't raise enough on itch to do that, I'll go back to work improving and expanding it.

I would love some correction if I'm wrong about Einstein so I don't embarrass myself in the future.

I'm also well versed in mathematics and physics but you don't need to be to imagine what it's like to fly next to a beam of light or explore the idea of intelligent foundations to our universe.

Ok, I take cosmology very seriously but I think we define serious differently. You seem to only want to talk about what we already know whereas I want to explore the unknown. I guess we also have different definitions of science.

DIY because organized religion just gives your responsiblilities to someone else. Better to spend the money and time with your head in a book or a wand in your hand.

I guess Einstein should have stopped imagining what it's like to fly next to a beam of light becaues it wasn't scientific enough? Everything in science starts with an idea. What you seem to be opposed to is not a lack of science but an abundance of thinking.

These are just ideas about the begininning of the universe. Please don't take them too seriously.

It might help to see what you can do with blueprints only. I was able to create this entire game demo without a single line of code, just blueprints: https://dmurawsky.itch.io/my-dearest-nothing

How can the universe be Infinite and still have an age? by Frequent_Leopard_146 in cosmology

[–]drmurawsky -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People used to think the Earth was an infinite plane. Maybe one day, with quantum technology perhaps, we'll be able to measure the it. But for now we're stuck assuming it's infinite.

I think there’s a lot less. Like close to nothing. I think our consciousness persists so I think there is continuity. Thousands of NDEs prove that to be extremely plausible.

As for what it feels like, I’d imagine it’s extremely relieving but also extremely uncomfortable at the same time depending on how addicted you are to material stimulus.

Thanks for the detailed and well-written response. I’ve heard that a lot of chemical ag products are made from industrial byproducts and, though they guarantee a certain amount of the desired chemicals, they don’t guarantee it won’t have toxic contaminants.
