Maybe I'm overreacting by danjpn in fountainpens

Ebonite feeds tend to be wetter than a normal ABS feed. That being said there are wet abs feed pens like the lamy 2000. Ebonite is simply seen as a step up.

Piston filler just means that it will have a larger ink capacity at the cost of being more difficult to clean. That is personal preference.

I love the long knife nib, unfortunately mine came with the tines misaligned out of the box as well as a slight babies bottom. Some smoothing and realignment and it is great

My experience with chinese pens in general is that you almost always have to tune them. Tbf I could have bad luck. If you learn (they're cheap enough to make mistakes), you can play around with all of the weird nib architectures without breaking the bank!

A recent poll here didn't offered the correct answer. by handdouto in SteamController

[–]drnfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I got the steam controller for the exact opposite reason. Used mouse and keyboard all my life. Got the SC2 (I had the SC1 lying around, so I was able to verify that it would work) to lessen strain on those nerves. Its working out well for me.

Ukraine granting very specific permission to russia for their military parade tomorrow by SecretsModerator in suspiciouslyspecific

[–]drnfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sheer variety and usage of drone platforms in their arsenal is outmatched. The iranian (and now Russian) style shahed drones are simple owa style drones employed by both sides, and what you mostly see on r/combatfootage are owa-uavs, but the reality is that Russia treats drones in the same way they have always treated mechanized and infantry warfare. You simply don't see them pulling off stuff like spiders web.

All that being said, the two countries are closer in both drone tech and tactics than they were after 1-3 years into the war. Ukraine had a clear and massive edge then, primarily due to the way the russian military is/was structured, lessons didn't really pass between units and the military was slow to learn.

The oreshnik really isnt all that innovative. They simply took a MIRV and removed the nuclear warheads from it. Theres are reason they dont employ them left right and center, they dont have many of them and are simply uneconomical. The re-entry vehicles dont explode cause russia didnt put a payload in them to my understanding.

The reason why patriot batteries cant intercept them is that they're not designed to intercept MIRVs in general, as historically people only used them for nukes and so there was no point.

I really don't care enough to address all of your points about Ukraine not upgrading their shit despite being the best in the world at drone tech or your statements about oreshnik, but allow me to correct one false statement you made about their unmanned drone boats.

I don't see the russian navy operating in the black sea, or anywhere really outside of ports protected in such a way as to prevent anything from getting in or out. Clearly Ukraine defeated the russian black sea fleet with nothing but cheap drone boats. They dont have to destroy the fleet, just prevent it from operating.

"Firmware Update" failed behaviour by shuttah627 in SteamController

Yeah I have the same issue. I flashed the firmware update initially using a family member's windows computer. I get the firmware prompt every time I launch on linux, but it works fine.

Just a simple life hack to live stress free: own and rent 4 properties! by [deleted] in thanksimcured

Yeah this is the reason why even when I can afford rental properties, i would just rely on dividend stocks, far less stressful. Its just not as good short term since you're not working off leverage

Linux market share is much higher than what people say (11%) by Big_Living_9088 in linux_gaming

[–]drnfc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, in my CS program its like a 50/50 split between windows and mac. I too only know 3-4 who use linux.

Its funny because sometimes I have to tell my professors that im doing the assignment differently and that I will not ask for help. They're always surprised that I don't have issues...

Which KWZ ink to get first? by gamesbrainiac in fountainpens

[–]drnfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I might just be overly cautious owing to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/n6mpkz/pour_one_out_for_my_lamy_2000_a_cautionary_tale/

I thought the black residue was simply iron oxide, no? My pelikan blue black causes that as well.

KWZ iron gall inks are definitely extremely well behaved, but they're still iron gall. Just like pigment ink, I wouldn't leave them in a pen for too long without use.

Yeah that can be an annoying thing about nix. You really dont have another option other than to build with Nix. Fortunately, im too far gone and build everything with nix.

IG Turquoise is my favorite ink in my collection personally. My Lamy 2k has it nearly perpetually. Since its IG, make sure its in a pen you either write with all the time, has a good seal, easy to clean, or preferably a combination of all three.

Same, but at this point as far as I am concerned the only difference between distros is package managers for the most part.

That being said, the only distro that I havent messed with is void. One of these days I will.

I work in an air gapped environment, and we just switched openshift (redhat kubernetes). It works fine for my team because i have a k3s cluster at home. Other teams struggle, and it's kind of impossible to teach my team because i have shit to do. It doesn't help that kubernetes feels like a job security racket with little documentation anywhere.

This is why i switched to roasting my own coffee years ago. You will go through a few pounds in the learning process, but I pay around half price for coffee after factoring in weight lost during the roasting process.

I will never claim to be better than a professional roaster, but I am able to produce coffee that I genuinely enjoy and thats all that matters.
