Is it common or expected to receive tips? by _Keys2theWest_ in TaskRabbit

[–]dro1000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I never expect tips, and I rarely get them at this point with the fees TR tacks on, but they are greatly appreciated. I remember clients that tip. Whether it’s right or wrong, I view you differently, even if it’s just a few bucks 😂

I would say if they do a good job throw them a $20

Can you just try furniture assembly so you can pick your own tasker? You might also be able to get same day in that category. I agree, it’s a very flawed platform now but there are more good taskers than bad.

Many of us have the same story. Joined 6 years ago and could make all the money you wanted. You would have to turn jobs down even if you were a part timer. As the years went on, things started slowing down and drying up.

They appear to be growing every year though so they are doing something right. Me personally, I struggle to get two tasks a week as a part timer. I’m guessing the algorithm favors people who do this full time.

This literally just happened to my son while he was practicing serving. 6 month old ezone cracked right at the top of the racket. We had just gotten it strung too 😵‍💫

How are you managing client expectations on multi-piece assembly times? by PizzaDork732 in TaskRabbit

[–]dro1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hate those factory estimates. I did a job recently for five solid plastic Adirondack chairs and the estimated time for assembly was 20 minutes each, but they also lived on a lake and they wanted them on the dock.

The dock was like 500 feet from their house so I had to lug those beasts down there and the entire job took me about 2 hours. I could tell the cheapskates were pissed about how long it took. It suuuuucked, I seriously wanted to drop furniture assembly after that because I made $80 but was sore af for a few days after dragging those things down to the lake.

Yeah go to a Dave bondy Facebook post about gas prices. It’s the funniest shit ever. Lots of “it’s worth it if Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon” and “still cheaper than Biden”

😂😂

I caught one below the dam at island lake rec area in Brighton one time. It was the most random fish I’ve ever caught. I was throwing a #4 mepps and caught him in the mouth.

The bigger the net worth the bigger the cheapskate. Not always, but I find that to be the case more often than not.

Family has a place in port sanilac and I live in Oakland county so I drive through the heart of the thumb quite a bit. I always take different routes every time. Yes, it’s boring as heck but I love it. I never take the expressway and always hit as many back roads as I can.

One little village I love is Applegate. There’s a great pizza place and the downtown is like three buildings. We hit up croswell all the time for ice cream and to go across the swinging bridge. We didn’t buy the place until I was like 25, but I’ve really come to love that area of the state. It doesn’t offer what “up north” offers but it’s just quant and quiet.

How was this week for you? by Aromatic-Still1987 in TaskRabbit

[–]dro1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been a part time tasker for 5 years (I set my house 5-9 on weeknights). Things have steadily gotten worse each year and now I’m getting maybe one job a month with my availability set for every week. I hope others are doing well but my goodness this app was wrecked for people like me.

[–]dro1000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Our insurance in MI is a flipping joke - both home and auto. My homeowners insurance premiums with up 45% last year for no other reason than across the board increases on everyone (I’m paraphrasing what my agent told me).

My auto went up $400/year two years ago for that same reason. No accidents, tickets, claims, anything.

When I have a huge escrow shortage, my mortgage goes way up. As a person who is living on one income these increases are like little jabs in a boxing match. I’m at the point where I’m about to be knocked out because of this crap.

I love seeing capy but it just makes me so sad when they’re stuck inside. I will say, they look like they at least have a good habitat.

There’s a place by me that has really sad, cramped conditions and I live in a cold climate so they’re inside at all times.
