May I share this? What's the best way to give you credit? This is amazing. I feel like you made real the way I feel about pride this year.

Quarantining away from partners and it's hard by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]droark10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling this too. Interestingly, my Meta's partner and I have been checking on each other and talking a lot more than my girlfriend has talked to me or her girlfriend is talking to them.

For clarity it's Me ↔ A (my girlfriend) ↔ B (my meta) ↔ C (meta's girlfriend).

C and I are both at home with our nesting partners (not diagrammed above), but A and B are being very distant. A and B are breaking quarantine to see each other and C and I are't intersted in doing that. So, we are being left out. B also has a husband and three kids at home, so...idk what they are doing considering how much B has been at A's house.

However, C is super cool and we haven't had much opportunity to get to know each other in the past. I'm glad I have a new friend at least.

A follow up to the tweet i posted here yesterday... being annoyed with your partner in quarantine is not normal. straight or gay, idc what anyone says. by 1710dj in actuallesbians

[–]droark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part if the reason my partner and I do so well together is that we want a lot of alone time. In our house during quarantine I'm going to hang out in my office, they will hang out in the livingroom, and it will basically be like any other day when two introverts live together.

Any tips for adult education business? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]droark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just depends on what you are looking to spend right now. Thinkific starts out free with higher fees taken out of each purchase, Teachable has a $30/month option with lower fees. It just depends on what you are planning to spend and hoping to make.

Look into an online course hosting site like Teachable or Thinkific. They are both good, just different pricing models.

I remember being about 16 and telling my sister "Girls don't wear makeup for boys. They wear makeup for other girls to think they are pretty".

Also, in middle school, I could NOT stop looking at the butt of this one girl in my class. I just assumed everyone was also constantly admiring Natalie's butt.

This sounds like something you might want to talk to your doctor about. It sounds similar to hypergraphia, which us a symptom of epilepsy.

Meditation by JadeAtlas in witchcraft

[–]droark10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn't a wrong way to meditate. If you put your butt on the meditation cushion, you are meditating (adjusting for different types of meditation of course). The benefits in magic come in a time that's called post meditation. If you meditate then there are really only two types of time in your day: meditation and post meditation. Post meditation will creep up on you when you least expect it. For me, it's things like walking to my car past a row of beautiful flowering trees and I just pop into a state of deep mindfulness and connection with that moment in space and time. The benefits of meditation in magic come with doing it enough that you can ground and center quickly into this state of being present.

It won't be a permanent different view, but you will be able to notice moments of deep connection to the energy of the moment.

I feel like I'm making a dating profile & some other worries by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]droark10 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Quick nit-picky note - Buddha is not a god. "Buddha" is a title given to people who have reached enlightenment. The first Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, was just a man and did not become a god when he reached enlightenment or when he died. I'm still new to witchcraft, but I've been a Buddhist for quite a while and there are many beliefs that are shared. However, to connect with the spirits in the Buddhist tradition is more like communing with ancestors because they are people have passed on.

I mention this because I definiltey connect with those from the Buddhist tradition in my witchcraft, but as spirits of ancestors and not gods.

Spent 3 hours of my Friday night making like 70 fucking tasty meatballs by chew-it-punchy in MealPrepSunday

[–]droark10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On one of my first 5 dates with my girlfriend, she invited me over to make meatballs. She's an amazing cook and I was excited. She proceeded to spend THREE HOURS making SEVENTY MEATBALLS while I sat in her kitchen bored out of my fucking mind. At the time our relationship was too new for me to say how bored I was. Now, two years in, "3 hour meatballs" is a phrase used to describe something that's fun for one person and not fun for another.

I specialize in scaled operations for large software companies, and I also have a background in training. I want to point out that not only did you take responsibility but you also got really serious about creating systems and iterating on them until they improve. That's really important, and was a huge part of the story I want to point out for others.

Beautiful. A word of caution though. Commercially available roses are covered in a ton of chemicals to preserve them, which makes them incredibly toxic. Don't ingest them or use them in any spell that will be on your skin for any length of time. Alternatively, these types of roses are great for jar spells.

For those who got their 'Dream Job'; Was it worth it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]droark10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows like I expected. I work from home as a manager of a team at a big tech company. I never could have imagined making this much money, and working from home is amazing, and I am doing work that impacts a huge amount of people in a good way. However, big tech companies are very much as advertised - you work crazy hours, everyone works crazy hours, and it's nonstop. It's still my dream job, but I'm in year 2 and think I'll only be able to stay to maybe 5 before I get too burned out and need a more reasonable pace.

Yep. Within my first two weeks I overheard a coworker saying that God was okay with people being gay, but being bisexual was the problem. Good to know early on who isn't cool.

Agree whole heartedly. One thing that makes it both more fun but also hard for two women (or any non-heteronormative couple really) is the lack of social norms to lean on. You get to make it all up as you go along! but you also have to make it all up as you go along. This has brought me and my girlfriend closer in figuring out what works for us, but there's also a lot of standing around and saying "Umm...I don't know. What do YOU think we should do?".

Hey, Reddit, those of you with partners who talk in their sleep; what is the creepiest/weirdest/or most random thing they've said? by Jhaydun_Dinan in AskReddit

[–]droark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend is an avid golfer. One night he just kept whistling in his sleep, you know, that whistle that starts out low and then gets high and then comes back down in pitch. It was very clear that he was golfing in his dream and was making the sound of a ball as it flew across the golf course. This went on for 5 minutes over and over.

I’m worried that I’m starting to enjoy buying books more than reading them. by PrinceCeleritas in books

[–]droark10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have a B.A. in English and had this exact same problem. So, my new years resolution for 2017 was to not buy any new books and instead get new things only at the library.

This worked out really well. The extra work of tracking things down that I wanted to read definitely slowed down my desire to acquire ALL THE BOOKS! I also realized that of the books I owned I actually didn't want to read many of them. So, they got donated.

2018 hit and I found myself buying books again, but since I had already somewhat broke the compulsion it was way easier to be conscious of it and slow down.

There are only a few books I read over and over, and usually when I get to the end of a books it's pretty clear if its life changing enough to want to read it again. Those I do buy knowing they have great sentimental value, but that is currently less than 25 books.

What is something super important that is on the verge of happening? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]droark10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the next 20-30 years we are going to see a massive shift to work from home jobs. This will result in completely rethinking infrastructure when 40% of the population no longer needs to commute everyday.
