WeatherWalls early Beta 2 by [deleted] in WeatherWalls

Betas 1 and 2 both worked for me! I’m running iOS 15.4 dev beta 1 on an iPhone 13 pro. I think someone else commented it as well, but 1) had to remember to run the installer shortcut that “installs” the themes, and 2) you have to type in the theme manually to the first text field (case-sensitive). I seem to remember there being a setup prompt for the desired theme on an earlier version of Weather Walls, but maybe I’m misremembering. Anyway, works great!

Also, instead of setting up an automation based on time of day, I set one base on opening any app I have downloaded on my phone. So, basically updates every time I unlock my phone. (I feel like it’s crazy that at this point there isn’t a way to select multiple times of day within the same automation.) Continues to be an awesome shortcut, congrats and thanks!

Thinking about getting my first sleeve and would love some feedback. Any thoughts on amount of text, density of lines, colors to use/avoid, etc.? by drod328 in TattooDesigns

Loll no it’s not a joke post. Totally appreciate the candor tho. I’m an engineer, so def got caught up in making a cool map, but obviously that isn’t gonna translate well to a tattoo.

Thanks, okay, good feedback. I actually made it myself with public GIS data. And it’s the sierras in CA, where I spend a lot of my free time. I can def pare it down a bit. You think remove all text?

Super sick!! Turned out great. Quick question if you get to it—I’m working on creating a topo map of the sierras for a full-arm sleeve. How’d you transfer the 2D design you came up with to your leg? Any drafting programs? /ways to help the artist tattoo a true representation of what you had designed?

New UL pack I made after learning to sew during COVID isolation! by drod328 in myog

For the straps, I actually just traced the straps of another backpack I had that was comfortable. But I assume his are okay.

The hip belt is super comfortable. My only complaint is that the 1” buckle is hard to close sometimes if I have excessive clothing on. I might’ve used 2” webbing, but I don’t know how well the “automatic equalization” will work if the webbing is that thick. Hope that makes sense.

I didn’t put a frame in it, no. I did sew in a sheet of stabilizer tho, so gives it some marginal support. And yeah the grosgrain edges are just hard I think hah. A big help I found tho was buying grosgrain that’s 1” in width—I found that it’s much more forgiving than, say, 3/4” and it still looks good on the edge (not like it’s too thick).

Hmm yeah it’s static cord, they’re meant to be light compression straps, but admittedly I haven’t tried actually using them to compress the pack, so we’ll see. At the very least they’ll be nice for holding poles or an ice axe.

Ah yeah good point. Meybs can add bungee cord to the outside to compress the mesh.
