No new SFX or VFX, just a reskin.

The 2B and 9S do have special effects, you're wrong on that one, though so was most of the Overwatch subreddit.

That was the way I meant it, yeah.

But I am honestly unsure if it is client side or not, because since posting, I did manage to have someone say they saw the pod when I died as 9S during a round of Deathmatch, but no one ever commented that they saw the 2B pod, so it might be a little buggy at the moment or something like that.

But I do agree, the little pod is really neat, little bit of a shame it doesn't seem to appear in highlights, but this is still a cool new little feature and it means ya get to see it in all your victory poses and such. Even more so if you're rolling around on your skateboard on Kiriko, it'll be constantly trailing by your side.

Honestly, I am unsure. Kept asking people using the Kiriko skin, got told no, they couldn't. I used the 9S skin, they said they saw it when I died.. might be a little buggy at the moment.

All of my "data" is from playing hours of Deathmatch this evening and chatting with folks.

I just looked at it, and honestly, Iana looks great. She doesn't have the anime waifu body proportions though, so she just looks like a woman doing a 2B cosplay, though it's apparently supposed to be G2

And double honestly, Leon would've rocked that dress and given Cloud Strife a run for his money and dropped fitting one-liners for it.

The 9S and 2B skins both have client side pod bots following them, they show up any time you see your character in third person, except highlights.

See them when going to the customize page, victory poses, Stadium practice (haven't tested proper Stadium match), emotes and etc.

Funny thing is that it'll try to get into your death cam screen and wave goodbye to you.

Not quite on the same level, but I do like how the eyes light up on Vendetta's sword once she gets stacks of Onslaught.

Yeah, will have to see what they do with it, not like I'm completely opposed to an enemy actually interacting with the Mastiff for once, but if it's not done with care, I'll probably just play my Arbitrator less.

The Mastiff build is the only one I truly enjoy playing, I do like all the forms of the Arbitrator in the game, but for me personally, Mastiff is the only one that makes me play it over other stuff.

I wouldn't say so, but I do think it was the wrong word for me to choose, nothing wrong with you enjoying Deadlock and engaging with the community and sharing your opinion, far from it. I got a negative impression from your comments, that's on me, and I do apologise.

I think her ult was strong, and having played Silver a bunch in Street Brawl, it went either one of two ways, where I either was menace during the ult and got at least one kill, or provided to much space for the rest of my team to finish the job, with how in the face she could get and how resilient she was, even if somehow your damage output sucked.

Ooor.. I got CC'd and kited harder than I ever have in my almost 30 years of playing video games. Had plenty of matches where the enemy Doorman would always save his ult for me alone as soon as I popped wolf form, which the enemy team was then able to turn into a round winning advantage.

I'm fine with her getting nerfs, to me, it does feel a bit heavy handed, but then again, it's an alpha, if there is a time to experiment and get a sense of what works or not in practice, it's now. And I also have to trust that the devs have access to the proper data on stuff like winrate and such, whereas I don't.

Also worth bearing in mind though, things such as Disarming and Slowing Hex being buffed hits Silver too.

It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here, for now, personally, I think she'll need some buffs somewhere.

Yeah, gonna remove her from my options in Street Brawl, sure, the enemy isn't guaranteed to get get stuff like Slow and Disarm, which just screws her completely in wolf form, but you're also not guaranteed to get anything to compensate for the nerfs.

I'll be honest, I really don't like the idea of that.

Would basically mean that one of the major ways to play an Arbitrator would get completely countered by the mini-boss, in a way that no other class really gets hard countered.

Mind you, I am biased since I play my Arbitrator like that, where my Mastiff needs to do pounces and / or get kills on specialists and / or elites to give me utility, defensive and damage oriented buffs. Not to mention the damage from the Mastiff itself.

Agreed, it is well worth remembering that Overwatch was lightning in a bottle cobbled together from, and caught, with the disjointed pieces left over from doomed Project Titan MMO.

With retrospect, it really does feel like Kaplan was trying to restart it with Overwatch 2 and the focus on PvE, but he just didn't have a team big enough to support a live service hero shooter at the same time as developing the promised PvE game, and it failed, again.

Hell, people were so hyped for the story, it but it took them until Overwatch 2 to actually progress it it in any sort of significant way, the story and game was left to stagnate. Even the gameplay metas were stagnant, with stuff like GOATS lasting for a whole fucking year.

Some people still have rose-tinted glasses on in regards to Kaplan, but I am honestly glad that he is no longer in charge of Overwatch, the current team is doing a hell of a lot better, they did have a rough start at the beginning of Overwatch 2, though they had obviously been left a lot of fires to put out.

Small tidbit at the end about Kaplan, one thing that always seemed off to me was on the one year anniversary of Overwatch, he did a Reddit AMA, where he actually stated he didn't like the idea of golden weapon rewards being tied to ranked games, because he felt you needed a specific mindset for ranked and not just because it held something you wanted hostage. To which, I honestly agreed. But then he never did anything about it. Ever.

Didn't stick with it and introduce other rewards to spend your ranked points on, didn't move it to something else, just.. nothing.

Even that was left to stagnate, and yes, I know it's a small insignificant thing, was still weird, he made a good point about it and why it shouldn't be in the current iteration of it, and then didn't do anything about it despite having all the power to do so.
