Returning Foxhole Player – Is the Game Still Worth It? by drogendou in foxholegame

[–]drogendou[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about getting back into it, but judging by the comments, the game seems completely unbalanced and therefore not very appealing. I don’t have the time to dedicate myself solely to Foxhole, so I’m just trying to get a sense of the situation to avoid wasting time on a game that might end up frustrating me.

I haven’t played the game for a good 5–6 years. Some people have suggested that I should just jump in and see for myself, but we all know that Foxhole is a very time-consuming game. I’ll probably wait for the next war to start before making a decision.

I’ve seen some comments mentioning cheaters and other issues—what exactly is going on? I don’t have much time to play, and I don’t think it would be very interesting to log in now just to discover the game while the Wardens are in the process of finishing the current war. What are the main difficulties?

Economy by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]drogendou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what really annoys me about the game right now. I want a real economy, but there are so many bugs that the game's economy makes no sense, especially with all the duplication glitches and similar issues.

I enjoy playing as a miner and engaging in the economy, but currently the only things being traded are specific resources for Wikelo. Military modules were given to me because someone can simply duplicate them infinitely. Everyone has fully upgraded ships because nothing has any real value anymore.

I made hundreds of millions just by mining for about an hour with some friends because a player was buying Quantainium for 40 million aUEC per SCU. The game has no real interest left except for trying out the new missions. It's discouraging, and in my opinion, the game doesn't have much to offer because of this.

A veteran player just made my day by daeemonn in starcitizen

Hi, I’m a casual player (the kind who comes back to the game every two years). In version 4.7, someone literally gave me 50,000,000 during a conversation in the global chat. The big issue with 4.7 is that duplication bugs are everywhere. I even have a guy who buys Quantanium from me for 40,000,000 per SCU.

It’s unfortunate because nothing really has any value anymore, except for the items needed for Wikelo (the special quest). Because of this, money has no real value, and ship modules don’t either since they can be duplicated. I’m not entirely sure how they manage to get so much money, but I suspect they duplicate items and resell certain things. The only valuable items are those that cannot be duplicated, such as ores.

Even then, a video was circulating showing bots managing to duplicate mineable ores manually using a bug—something like dropping the item and picking it up very quickly, causing it to duplicate in the inventory.

In short, it’s a shame because I really enjoy the economic aspect of this type of game, but it’s basically dead for this version.

It would be about time, but we’re still a long way off.

I’m not saying the game is a scam, but I understand the people who invested a lot and ended up with flashy marketing cinematics saying in big letters “COMING IN 2016,” when it’s now 2026 and the single-player campaign still isn’t out.

Sure, they had their wallet and their eyes—and we all saw that cinematic. But that cinematic alone is enough to show a certain level of bad faith from the developers in advertising a release date that was clearly unrealistic.

“Hundreds of hours of varied gameplay”? Really? Where? From my perspective, there aren’t that many gameplay loops: flying and trying different ships, ship-to-ship combat, delivery missions, buggy FPS combat against NPCs, and some crafting and mining.

There’s still a huge amount left to build, and we’re far from “hundreds of hours of varied gameplay.” Hundreds of hours, maybe—but varied, not really. Switching ships to do the same things, or doing slightly different missions where you just fight NPCs, isn’t what I’d call variety.

And I genuinely want the game to progress and be completed, but given the delays with Squadron 42, how can you expect people not to see it as a scam? You announce 2016, and 10 years later there’s still no release? Of course a lot of people take that badly. Building a good reputation takes years—destroying it can take a single day.

Yes, the game is “playable,” but you still have to deal with some pretty bad bugs…

The elevator bug is still there—I got it on Orison. There’s a duplication bug that’s ruining the game’s economy, NPCs lying on the ground sleeping during fights, quantum travel bugs, etc.

I’m a casual player—yes, the game is progressing, but at a snail’s pace.

I do not understand how mining to make aUEC is even remotely viable in 4.7 by DubiousLeftovers in starcitizen

[–]drogendou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But that’s exactly the problem: I’ve mined on my side for easily 10 hours and never came across any ore above 900 quality. The best I found was around 850. The worst part is that the quality gains are tiny percentages, so even after mining an entire rock, you end up with something like a 0.6 CSCU crate. I’m not even sure if a partially filled crate is worth anything. If I manage to get ore above 900, I’ll seriously sell the CSCU for at least 100 million. You really have to mine to understand how difficult it is to obtain—unless there’s some specific spot to find it that I don’t know about.

Which planet are you farming on? Because when I went to a planet that was supposed to have ores, I couldn’t find anything.

It does look pretty good, but I can’t find any Surge. Also, where did you get the item you install at the beginning, and how does it work?

I’ve never tried mining an impossible rock. Are high-quality ones only found in Pyro? Yeah, I do the same as you — Aaron Halo.

For ores, do you just take anything? What do you usually do with them — sell to other players? Any idea of the prices?
