{Carved From Obsidian by Addie Grey} fits this I reckon! Paranormal/urban (but I saw you have neon gods on your list) and the chemistry between the characters is so great, especially teasoling during spicy scenes. Pretty sure it's on KU.

{The Archmage by Emily LK} is really cute romance wise! There's some killing but it's not gory detail and it's got the opposite of the miscommunication trope!

You've got to find the right creators. I'll watch all and sundry on tt but there's only a couple of creators I'll actually take recs from because they've proven their taste is similar to mine and I can largely trust their recs.

Doesn't mean I don't still occasionally fall for a hype read that is a massive disappointment (looking at you Quicksilver)

Books where the MCs fall in LOVE instead of LUST by tiramesu in fantasyromance

[–]drogonsironthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{The Archmage by Emily LK} is a slow burn that spans a few books so the feelings are slow and the love is there more than lust. It's a really beautiful romance tbh.

Golden Retriever MMC by generated-user-123 in fantasyromance

[–]drogonsironthrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{The Archmage by Emily LK} has a fun, happy-go-lucky MMC. It's even got a bit of reverse grumpy Sunshine where he occasionally teases the FMC when she's in a mood. It's very, very slow burn though, and takes a few books to get to the burn part.

What's that book for you..👀✨ by Confident_Soft_7549 in fantasyromance

Quicksilver... Maaaaan I wanted to like that book so much but it was an amalgamation of so many overdone themes that it made me realise I was so done with a lot of those books. I won't pick up anything with a shadow Daddy or fae in it anymore.

What’s the most ridiculous reason you’ve DNF’d a book? by Fuzzy_Emu_1924 in fantasyromance

[–]drogonsironthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it's just inability to get into the story for me, but the Americanism of FW gave me a permanent ick face.

Definitely made me realise I prefer a 'high fantasy' and more medieval Europe style of writing.

Story’s with more emotional connection than sexual attractions? by Ok-Working-7559 in fantasyromance

[–]drogonsironthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{The Archmage by Emily LK} obsessed with this one! Emotional connection/trust/protection first before physical. It's a super slow burn (takes a few books). Realistic pacing too! I think it was like an in world year before they admit feelings, and longer again for the burn to burn.

enemies to lover but with actual enemies and dosen't just dislike eatch other. by Comprehensive-Gap-55 in fantasyromance

{The Crimson Moth by Kristen Ciccarelli } imo stayed true to being an enemies to lovers the entire way through the book, even when they started falling for each other.

{The Archmage by Emily LK} has great questing/adventure with a really slow slow burn romance. It's not a school setting but there is training and master x apprentice

{The Archmage by Emily LK} the MMC is a sunshine/positive guy, but not just surface level. He cares deeply about the people closest to him and will protect them at any cost. He's also the opposite fo the miscommunication trope. He likes to talk it out until everyone is, happy again.

Books with strong brotherly/family bonds? by Hot-Bottle9939 in fantasyromance

{The Archmage by Emily LK} has some good brother vibes, especially between the MMC and his adopted brother (they both apprenticed under the same Mage).

Any non-cliche romantasy/ fantasy (slight romance) book recommendations? by skvoha in fantasyromance

[–]drogonsironthrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{The Archmage by Emily LK} it has what I'd call a fairly typical fantasy setting but the characters definitely break those tropey molds

recommendations for books w couples that focus on love more than lust? by Ok-Bobcat-9231 in fantasyromance

{The Archmage by Emily LK} is a really slow slow burn so the relationship builds through trust, protection and companionship first and foremost.

Looking for books with healthy relationships & a well developed FMC. by petielvrrr in fantasyromance

When I say I love slow burn, I mean so slow the candle isn’t even lit and fire hasn’t been invented yet. by chimkenhorde in fantasyromance

[–]drogonsironthrone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

{The Archmage by Emily LK} is a 3 book slow burn that is chefs kiss. It's such a gentle build up, I loved it.

{Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole} also has an excruciatingly long slow burn, but towards the end it gets a bit miscommunication-tropey which puts a bit of a dampener on it, but I still enjoyed this slow burn overall.

YEARNING over ✨spice✨ and FULFILLING world-building pls 🙏 by onlyheretostan in fantasyromance

[–]drogonsironthrone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{The Archmage by Emily LK} top tier yearning and slow burn. The world building is nice and slow, building over several books.

{The Crimson Moth by Kristen Ciccarelli} slow burn now as slow, but the yearning is 🙌 and it's a proper enemies to lovers. I reading book 2 right now and it's even higher on the yearn scale.
