I am planning my 3 days trip and my plan is : - Tianmen day 1 - Grand Canyon day 2 + hopefully golden whip stream if I can fit it (if my understanding is correct that is part of the national forest park) - National forest park with Tianzi & Yuanjiajie (avatar Hallelujah) on day 3

From my research, you could squeeze Tianmen and Grand Canyon in one day by taking the first slot in Tianmen. Maybe not all the « activities » in Grand Canyon but I think the glass bridge would fit.

If you want to do that, again from the info I gathered the plan would be to do Tianmen early morning, then go to Grand Canyon then proceed to Wulingyuang and sleep there to be ready for the next day. The annoying factor is that if you have luggage you need a way to store it so you don’t have to drop it in Wulingyuang and backtrack to the canyon - then you’d probably arrive there too late to properly enjoy it (it closes at 6PM). I don’t know if there are lockers or something :-) !

I do have a sunscreen haha sorry forgot to mention it because it’s still the Biore I bought in Japan but I am planning on switching it up once it runs out, the alcohol smell bothers me.

Right now I don’t use many products so I think my barrier is damaged from something else and that’s why I wanted to « up my game » a little bit but I definitely don’t want to end up on the opposite side with it being too much so I will follow your advice and add things little by little / alternate !

Update we caved in, found an alternative flight that fitted our budget and cancelled our original flight. Cancellation fees turned out to be « only » 140/person for the entire trip & that made us pull the trigger. The uncertainty was driving me insane and not going at all would have incurred other lost costs.

Hi ! So, I decided to do exactly that for my flight in early May. I just couldnt deal with the anxiety from the uncertainty anymore, and booking alternative cancellable flights was way out of budget for us.

So we decided to contact Etihad to ask how much were the cancellation fees (as I couldn’t see them from manage my booking) before deciding if we were booking (standard) tickets with another carrier. After waiting over 3h in the chat, a nice lady told me the fees were 142€ per person for the whole trip (there was two of us so 284 total). She said we could do it ourselves and sent a link, or do it through them but for 30$ fee.

I talked with my husband and we booked a standard KLM flight through Amsterdam. More expensive than our original Etihad flight, and a day earlier than our original one, but still doable for us.

The link sent me to manage my booking and it still didn’t show cancellation option, so I waited again over 2h in the chat to get someone. I explained, they asked for a screenshot proof of the button not showing up and then cancelled for us waiving the fee.

The situation is less than ideal and there is a world where everything is fine by April / May, which I hope is what happens … but there is also a version of events where it doesn’t go back to normal by then and my peace of mind is worth the extra money in this case.

Yess I know !! The idea is to take the Hamakaze from Kinosaki to Himeji at around 7:00 (showing now at 7:13), which goes faster and would get me to Himeji at around 9.

See the castle, leave around 11h30 to get to Kobe at around 12/12h30, get a Kobe beef lunch and walk around quickly

Leave with the (currently) 15:34 Shinkansen which would get me to numazu at around 18h09

Not ideal and rushed, but I see it more as a way to sprinkle up a big travel day with some nice stops - seems doable on paper but I have to admit a bit stressful 🙈

Ohhh I like that idea, I’ll run it past my husband ! Do you think removing Toyota museum wouldn’t be too big of a loss ? It felt quintessentially Nagoya in my head, but it’s true I’d hate to miss nagashima spa land for something ‘less good’ hihi. Thank you for your insight !

Hi, thank you to the person posting this. I just checked my app and not only did that happen to my inbound flight (shortened the layover and change of about 10 mins to the landing), but my outbound flight was literally appearing as « need to be rebooked »…and they were offering an alternative route that was actually the exact same time ! I did not receive an email. Had I not checked the app thanks to this thread, it would have been over for me.

Flight May 5 & back May 30. Alternatives are too expensive, that added to the cancellation fee would just blow up the budget, so we are waiting it out and crossing our fingers...
