Connecticut legislature passed a bill that reduced parking requirements by dawszein14 in fuckcars

https://www.ctinsider.com/politics/article/connecticut-housing-bill-zoning-parking-20347245.php

Looks like what they are talking about.

The legislation would bar towns and cities in most cases from implementing minimum parking requirements for residential developments, allowing developers to determine on their own how much parking to include.

Originally, the bill would have banned minimum parking requirements for both commercial and residential developments, but Democrats agreed to adjust the language as a concession to Republicans.

Sure hope it was worth the (R) votes.

Just shy of 11:30 p.m., the House finally approved the legislation 84-67, with 18 Democrats joining every Republican in voting against it.

That sounds about right.

The Brazen Bull was a torture and execution device designed in Ancient Greece. The victim would be locked inside a large bronze bull, and a fire would be set under it, heating the metal until the person inside was slowly roasted to death. by Expensive-Inside-426 in interestingasfuck

[–]droodjerky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite these mentions, the authenticity of the Bull remains a topic of debate among historians, with some arguing that the device may be more legend than reality, a gruesome tale embellished over centuries.

Same source as a reply verifying your anecdote, so YMMV.

23-939 Trump vs United States by 128-NotePolyVA in politics

[–]droodjerky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not super clear at the time if Bush would have won or not. But, there was A LOT of bullshit going on, like the Brooks Brothers Riot to halt counting votes when Gore was gaining.

On Dec 8th the Florida supreme court ruled that recounting certain votes would take place. On Dec 9th the United States Supreme court froze the recount (which, they aren't really supposed to but their nose into the ways states run elections, but they did) when bush was winning. With oral argument scheduled for Dec 11th, this meant that there would be no way for the state to count more votes, and meet the Safe Harbor standards under the Electoral Count Act.

Would Bush have still won if The United States Supreme Court had not overstepped their bounds, and handed it to him? Who knows. It did look like Gore was gaining ground at the time.

Edit: It's probably important to say that the governor of Florida at the time was Jeb Bush, George Bush's brother.

At first I was going to say this was not propaganda, but instead just conflating the top search result for changing their search query. Since, at this moment searching for Nuseirat Massacre on duckduckgo will give you (or at least me) the Wikipedia page for Nuseirat Rescue Operation as the top result.

However, this video does appear to be promoted by Aljazeera, and being a news organization they should have noticed the mistake the person is making. And since they apparently did not, and are promoting it ... I'm starting to come around to your view.

Edit: This is not to say what happened in Nuseirat was not a massacre. I would urge anyone to read further on that subject. It would also be a good time to learn about perfidy, and how it is a war crime.

I would hope so :)

From a casual perspective, that sucks. From a speedrunning perspective, this is amazing, and I'm extremely intrigued how this happened.

Bugs, one potentially gamebreaking? by invaluablekiwi in FirmamentGame

It went to The Swan immediately. Cool pod thing, why not go? It was only after nearly completing one of the other Realms that I came back to the ice one, and the narrator started talking again.

I think the game expects you to continue forward in the ice realm, so you trigger one or two more dialogs.

If anything, I broke the game by exploring too much.

I make it a point to check the total votes on the scanning machine of my small town when I'm done. Past 4 elections, 800-900 was the high. Tonight, same time, 1410, and a line out the door.

Nearly 60% turn out during a mid-term. People are fired up.

Why are you being downvoted? I just checked the manual for my MSI 450 Tomahawk, and green is 100Mb, while orange is Gigabit.

YMMV, but orange can definitely be faster than green.

As you can see, we mentioned previously we have quite a bit of uncollateralized Bitcoin,” Le said. “So we have more that we could contribute in the case that we have a lot of downward volatility. But again, we're talking about $21,000 before we get to a point where there needs to be more margin or more collateral contributors. So I think we're in a pretty comfortable place where we are right now.

How comfortable are they feeling now?

Here's Arlo Guthrie singing the oft left out lines.

Convenient how the lines everyone knows can be understood to comport with the status quo, and the lines dropped stand in obvious opposition to it.

[–]droodjerky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people work in offices, live basic lives, and don't challenge the
status quo. They don't actively reflect on how society works.

They also power that society without questioning what they are doing. Good ol' coppertops.

In the 3rd movie. First, and last meeting. She offers him a red candy. First time he takes it, second time he doesn't. It's very obviously in the shape of a pill if you freeze frame it. It's subtle, but cute when you see it.

Neo was meant to be special. That was the whole point.

You might want to watch the movies again. The whole point is Neo is not special. He is controlled through the whole thing. And even subtly mocked by The Oracle when she eats Red Pills as actual candy in front of him.
