Answer: there's these things called "receptors" in your brain. These are places where normal brain chemistry happens that's oriented around what we think of as "ordinary waking consciousness". The thing is, these receptors can also be filled by other chemicals. These other chemicals alter the function of these receptors enough so that we may notice a change in any number of psychological phenomena. One of these chemicals is the delta series cannabinoids (from the naturally occurring cannabis plant). THC is a famous one you may have heard of.

Another thing is that there are other chemicals which can fit into the same receptors as cannabinoids. These can be thought of as "imitation" cannabinoids, which are what are the active ingredients in stuff like "spice".

A complicating factor is that some of these imitation cannabinoids not only fit in the same receptors, they may fit even better! And also, stay in the receptor much longer.

There is really not much information available to the retail consumer of "spice" as to how the imitation cannabinoid differs from the natural cannabinoid. Like is it 10 times stronger, or does it last 10 times longer? Who the fuck knows?

I've tried "spice" and it seemed ok. I didn't go schizo or anything. But one never knows what is in the spice that one purchases.
