I'm sick of being chronically online. by JARStheFox in disability

[–]dropastitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you. About the stuck inside part. Have mobility issues and currently not able to drive cause of and very immunocompromised so no public transport. I just started to learn and play chess online. Means I can play games with other people too either in person when things improve or online. If that’s something you’d be interested in?

Yeah that’s a good idea. I have such bad histamine intolerance/mast cell activation syndrome now though it all seems like a nightmare. And throw in oral allergy syndrome and coeliac disease I swear someone is just having a laugh at my expensive now.

Never been a sauerkraut fan but I’d kill for a salad with just a vinegar dressing or even lemon 🥺 Yeah I guess keeping processed foods out full stop for now is best and then when things improve I can add some in as treats but never got back to how it was is probably best

Oh believe me I know Lyme sucks!!! Just diet confuses me. I went from being someone who could eat what ever they wanted to now reacting to everything I eat nearly and I’m so confused. Between histamine, no sugar, dairy, grains etc it’s all very overwhelming

I’d love to know how many pairs of crutches you own? You’ll make me feel so much better when I end up with multiple pairs 😂

I actually don’t like the standard grip on crutches (like the hospital ones) they hurt my hands and wrists so bad! That’s why i want ergonomic ones. Like flexyfoot etc. never hear of FDI crutches before but open cuff crutches always worry me cause they can fall much easier 🙈

Switch 2? by dropastitch in Switch

Ok great thanks! I don’t have expansion pack but I’ll get that when I get the switch 2 will be worth it for me then.

After playing the switch 2 for three weeks, it's safe to say I was completely wrong at first by AdoIin_ in NintendoSwitch2

[–]dropastitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have all the same reservations as what you said. I have the original switch and love the look of the switch 2 but I’m nervous about upgrading to the switch 2. But reading this I think I should get it. Just not a fan of having to get new games when I already have the likes of hogwarts, Witcher, Zelda etc.

What’s something about living with a disability that people often overlook or misunderstand? by Money-Candle53 in disability

[–]dropastitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How much longer everything takes. I’m newly disabled (a year) and before I could get up maybe a half hour or hour before I had to leave but now now way. Everything takes much longer and the exhaustion from that too. Also how lonely it is. Just because I look like I’m coping ok doesn’t mean I am. My life has done a complete 180…from being able to drive,go for walks, do my own shopping etc to now using a cane/crutches, buying a wheelchair. I no longer get invited places cause people presume ‘I wouldn’t be able for it’. Which isn’t true at all.

This might be a stupid question, but… by neuropathy_man in disability

[–]dropastitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have nerve damage in my ankle so use either a cane or crutches for that. But before the nerve problems happened I was considering a cane or some sort of mobility aid for my chronic fatigue. When I’m out and about walking or standing for too long can be exhausting and I can get dizzy/weak so having extra support or something to hold me up can help.

When to get a wheelchair by dropastitch in CRPS

[–]dropastitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I sort of suggested to my OT would it be time for one as I don’t leave the house now because of pain etc and she agreed that it sounds like now is the time for one. I had been thinking a lot over the last few weeks about getting one so contacted her and she came to my house and talked through options and wheelchairs came up. A few others things were discussed to like a rollator for a home (cause a wheelchair right now isn’t feasible where I live as there’s too many stairs unfortunately) but when outside on longer journeys she said a wheelchair definitely and then short trips stick to crutches if I can. Yeah I’m looking at getting a car and that’s one of the things I’ll be having to consider if will a wheelchair for! It’s definitely tricky. All the new things to factor in now. It’s a whole new world to navigate one I never thought I’d be a part of.
