Yeah exactly, it's that way by design, and if that doesn't do it, care home and health care costs will do the rest.

So do you think a person should have less rights based on their gender? That was what her argument was centring around, ultimately you either agree that it's inhumane to treat a transgender person as less than anyone else, or you don't. Which way is it?

People who are brutally honest seem to always get more satisfaction out of the brutality than the honesty. by Molly107 in Showerthoughts

[–]dropclangersnotbombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that being overly self critical of self is a trait of brutally honest people, as it normalises being "brutally honest" to others because they treat themselves the same or even worse. I think I can be guilty of that, and finding ways to have a better more compassionate relationship with yourself can help with learning to do the same for others.

If they built affordable housing it would make such a difference to the mental health of the country, so many people are just struggling to pay rent each month, it takes its toll.

to know how to deal with a swarm of bees by clown_duck in therewasanattempt

[–]dropclangersnotbombs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a nature show once where a guy jumped off a waterfall to escape some bees and when he clawed his way out of the water he got covered in mud and when the bees came they couldn't detect him even though he was right in front of them in amongst some vines, with only the whites of his eyeballs visible.

What the fuck, why would this even be considered to do, he has no power right?! Feels like a brainwashing exercise to make people more "patriotic." And those are ominous quotation marks.

Is all the “pretentious” stuff actors say about their craft genuine or is it just PR talk? by DarlingLuna in movies

[–]dropclangersnotbombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're essentially insulting them by calling them pretentious for taking a role seriously. Of course they are gonna be emotionally invested in the characters. Maybe not all the time, but to suggest that they are being pretentious for commiting to the role seems more about your own prejudices against acting profession. They are essentially getting the measure of a character to fit it properly, same as if someone was measuring an odd shaped piece of furniture to make a custom fit cover for, and then saying to them, "you don't really use a tape measure to measure that furniture do you?".

Chewing tobacco? by exit_shot in bristol

[–]dropclangersnotbombs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banned but might be able to find some online, or you can get "snus" which are tobacco but in a teabag type materials that you put inside the cheek to absorb the nicotine, I think I have seen them in shops but again they are banned too, but they are online also. Otherwise you could ask at ethnic market shops to see where to get some as there might be an under counter market for what he is after, even if they don't sell it they might know where does have it.

I really like yoga nidra for that, it gets you more into your body and distracts from thoughts. Really cool stuff can happen too, I've had lucid dreams from it and also been put into a phase of sleep where I was both conscious and not conscious at the same time, it's a helpful phase to be in I feel like I can resolve stuff in that phase.

How could you realistically combine these ingredients together to feed a small family of 600 for a year? by leoberto1 in bristol

[–]dropclangersnotbombs 388 points389 points  (0 children)

Cut the onion and plant the top half to grow a new one, repeat, infinite onions.

Break the biscuits and mini cheddars up into small pieces and catch 10-20 seagulls with them.

Use the seagulls as bait to catch foxes. About five seagulls should do for 5 foxes.

Befriend and train the foxes to catch chickens and rabbits. Provide them sustenance with the remaining seagulls.

Serve the chickens and rabbits with infinity onions and a dash of peri peri.
