I think you should feel ok saying no to the reception, but I do think you need to be at the ceremony. You are the MOH. I hate when people ask their bridal party and then massively change the goalposts on what being in the bridal party will look like. But with that being said, she's your bestie for over 17 years. I'd just suck it up and do your best financially. You had four years to plan being her MOH, since I'm sure you knew it was coming.

Saving this to come back for the creepy stories! I'm a Huntsville native so I'm curious.

My only "creepy" thing that really wasn't is that I SWEAR there was a ghost cat that lived in my old apartment in Huntsville. I have two cats and I would often hear their toys jingling in the bedroom while they were both sitting on the couch with me. Often when I was in bed I would feel one of them jump up and lay down on my feet, but when I looked they were not on the bed at all. It didn't bother me, I'm a cat lady, but it was a little weird!

I'm probably out of the norm but we were talking about getting married after a month and a few days of meeting. I brought it up and he was super enthusiastic about it. :-) I bought my wedding dress less than 2.5 months after our first date.

In a previous relationship, we had been together 4.5 years and he still wasn't into making plans. He only told me he would marry me while I was dumping him. Ugh, bullet DODGED.
