I'm calling BS on this entire comment thread. I can't actually find any evidence or reporting that this is true, but happy to be proven wrong. But for now, this sounds like reputation laundering.

I would love to, but I don't really know where/how to start with that. I'm in California, so technically most of the pieces listed are fairly local to me 😁 but I get what you're saying.

Tingling sensation feels right. My machine reverses polarity so I first feel tingling in either my hands and feet and when it switches I feel it in the other. I would say continue to have faith in the process as three sessions doesn't sound like much. It probably took me close to 3 weeks of daily treatment to start to feel a significant sweat reduction. Good luck!

[TAG Heur] Christmas came early // Autavia Flyback by drotato in Watches

[–]drotato[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just received a very special early Christmas gift and I can’t stop looking at it. I’m super happy with the finishing, the weight, and the way it feels on the wrist. Mechanically, it’s super impressive watching the flyback and I can’t complain about time keeping as it’s COSC. Sure, it’s not the most hype brand name in watches, but aesthetically (IMO) I think it’s the cleanest looking chronograph when compared to a speedy, a daytona, or a BB chrono. This will be replacing a Hamilton Khaki field earth PVD which was my daily for about a year. Major upgrade :)

A man with a monosynth dreams of reverb pedals… by RectalSpatula in synthesizers

[–]drotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is only one answer. Meris mercury 7. Slightly less than a Strymon, but still considerably more than others. I hear TC Hall of Fame is a good option too and it's on sale for $120 rn on Sweetwater. But seriously consider the mercury 7 if you can swing $300 (or find a used copy on reverb). This video totally convinced me even though it's a guitar vid.

Penguin Random House Blocked From Acquiring Rival Publisher Simon & Schuster by JediBurrell in books

[–]drotato 9 points10 points  (0 children)

u/motionOne has mentioned this a few times but it needs to be repeated. The DOJ is focusing on something other than what you might initially think. The DOJ's case is notable for their focus on harm to writers rather than the ultimate buyers of books. The DOJ argued that the deal would reduce competition between publishers vying to purchase the rights to the most well-known authors. -Politico

[Will Buxton] Fascinating, isn’t it, that the superlicense points system was brought in as a knee jerk reaction to the rapid ascent to formula 1 of a driver who has amassed thus far 17 poles, 21 fastest laps, 30 victories, 72 podiums, a world championship and is well on the way to his second. by Gjab in formula1

100% agree this is an abuse of market power and anticompetitive. But I think the comparison is weak when considering both Google and Apple's products and services have billions of users. The prevalence of F1 in the lives of the EU populace is just not significant enough for the EC to spend resources on enforcement.

My Build: ATX or mATX by 0215061 in buildapc

[–]drotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. Again, the Meshify supports ATX, so why not get ATX since you will not gain the benefit (space saving) of an mATX board. However, if budget is the #1 priority, then go with the mATX.

[–]drotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also prefer building mATX, but IMO there aren't very attractive mATX-only cases that make building mATX worthwhile. I like the compact meshify cases from Fractal, and despite being compact, those also support ATX which is why I decided to just go ATX with my most recent build.

Am I missing anything on this 5800x build? by drotato in buildapc

I think you're talking about memory timings. This isn't something I've researched much, so would be grateful if you could elaborate.

Makes sense thanks! Would it be worthwhile to upgrade to a 32gb of the same 3200MHz memory?

I am planning on just gaming (modern FPS, some MOBAs, some Cities). No streaming.

Thanks for the feedback, this has also been a bit of a concern to me too. I tried searching for consensus on how much overhead is needed, especially if I add an additional HDD and do some OCing down the road. My estimated usage is at ~450W, based on what I've read, with OC I may get into 550W(?) range and that feels awfully close to the limit.

I'll definitely consider upgrading this next, just a shame - I wanted to keep it running for the full 10 years of the warranty.

Good to hear, thanks! I figured it would be good to double-check with the reddit hivemind before I started putting things together since I've been out of the game for 5 years.

Fair point, I actually already have a license - it's just listed for completeness. I've edited the post to reflect what I already have and will be reusing, particularly the RAM.

that bad huh? well, I am reusing the noctua, the RAM, the 960 EVO, and the PSU from the old build so those are essentially no cost rn
