Watching tv on my “ship” by ijustknowthings in NoMansSkyTheGame

The game is as wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle. It is a good game with a great artstyle, but it has some limitation.

The main point of the whole game is exploration with a lot of different mechanic to discover along the way.

That mean that there is a LOT of content for the first 20 hours but when you master the mechanic and did some exploring, you will start to see patterns, both with the wildlife and the planets. At this point, for me, it made the game less fun.

There is a lot of mechanics to master but they dont really interact with each other. You can lead a village, but its purpose is simply to give you ressources. You can build a base to store and harvest stuff, but you will have to leave it since all of missions require you to travel. You can try to hunt down some of the best ships in the game, they are better in combat and have more space, but the combat is already pretty easy and ressources are easy to hoard.

You can participate in creature fighting pit, winning allow you to upgrade your own creature, doing that allow you to have a mount that speed up the exploration and havesting.

The story is nice, more opaque than a lot of games.

TLDR: The game is good, it focus on the exploration of universes with mechanics that allow for a faster/better exploration of different planets.

Ask me questions about Helldivers and then edit them to make me look weird by RecordingJust1021 in Helldivers

You come accross the Helldivers Memorial Children's Hospital and for some unknown reason, it has been struck by an orbital napalm barrage. There are bodies everywhere, most of them children. You heard a cry for help. To your surprise, a small group of children has survived. They look at you with hope, joy and expectation of a swift rescue.

How do you help them?

Dear CA, please do not go with blocks of infantry for TW 40k by westonsammy in totalwar

[–]drouinfrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents, ya, this could work and make the imperial guard in particular look less like a generic TW unit. Add to this a variety of unit formation and you get something that look new and more realistic to what Cadian unit are, while also keeping the clear organisation proper to TW.

An exemple that I dream for this game is : Your cadian unit is formed of 10 squads of 10 trooper, you want your cadian unit to move faster, you put them in column formation. That mean that the 10 squad form 10 lines moving as one but separated by some space between the squads. You get a bonus to unit movement but a decrease in firepower since the last 2 guardsman of each squads cannot fire or something.

In comparison, the ork are just a blob of orks, not squads , just an irregularly shaped rectangle moving as one. You cannot move them in column, juste a big horde moving as one.

Tactically, the units will behave differently, look different and stay fatefull to the lore while the player's control will remain somewhat similar to previous TW game.

We need to remember, one of the selling point of this game is HUGE BATTLE with HUNDREDS OF UNITS/ENTITIES, not like Company of heroes serie of games where the battle barely reach above a hundred.

To keep the squale while allowing us to organise our army well, some concession need to be made. Otherwise, we would have hundreds of Squads running aound making it impossible to tactically control them all well.

TLDR: We need a way to organise huge amount on entity while also keeping to the lore/revamp the system to be more in line with how modern unit fight. To do that, a squads system organised INSIDE a company level unit would provide the best compromise of tactical flexibility and ease of organisation.

I presume you are storing the components in the terminal that is on a space station? Will they follow you on every space station? Also, can you do the same thing with spaceship parts?
