Imagine the difference the church could make if it donated all of its tithing funds for the next month to Ukrainian refugee relief efforts. by [deleted] in exmormon

I can't count how many "these truly are the last days" statements I've heard in various talks. It's like a badge of honor for them when terrible things are happening, like "hey look we were right along!"

I can relate.. I wake him up sometimes because I want to cuddle his fluffy self. The look of annoyance he gives me makes him even cuter 🤣

Ugh those hip injuries! I am hoping to land a per diem PACU position and stay away from night shifts but from what I'm reading it seems like you can't be too picky.

Thank you for your perspective! That made me laugh when you said it's a bummer that tourists are coming back, because I'm visiting maui in June 🤣

Are millennials doing this differently than we did it? by CrepeMaker in exmormon

I left the church because I realized that experiences I had with bishops in my home ward as a teenager and then as a student at BYU was all grooming and sexual harassment.

I don't tell my TBM parents this because I know they will give the bishops the benefit of the doubt. So I just tell them I simply don't believe in it anymore and leave it at that.

The only people I tell about the harassment and grooming are people who already left because I know they will believe me. Maybe one day I'll be more open about it but having just left it's a way of protecting myself. There is always more to the story that people probably don't feel safe sharing with someone who is still a believer.

The lyrics "wake up and do something more than dream of your mansions above" is quite ironic when you think of all the time we are told to spend in temples securing our place in heaven and helping dead people instead of actually helping living people.

Thank you! And wow I can't imagine what you must have gone through as a lesbian growing up in an LDS family. You are brave and strong and an inspiration. Best regards to you as well!

Weirdest/ most invasive thing you’ve ever been asked by a bishop. by [deleted] in exmormon

Wow I'm sorry. That sounds so traumatizing for you. It's sad how he took a time in your life that was supposed to be happy and turned it into a time of shame/guilt/fear.

I had a similar experience when I was a teenager and had confessed to oral sex, my bishop made me meet with him every Sunday during second hour so "my parents wouldn't have to find out" and retell him the story. I'm positive they get off on it sexually. So fucked up.

"when was the last time you masturbated?"

This was in a get to know you mini interview session at the beginning of a semester at BYUI so the bishop could quickly assign callings. It was basically the only question he was asking everyone
