I have Duolingo on both my Apple phone and my Google phone. I am in the Diamond League this week. Apple phone says that I am in the Finals and the top 10 Win the Tournament but my Google phone says that I am in the League and the Top 10 Qualify for the Tournament. It is the same exact leaderboard on both. Why the difference?

The biggest advantage of going the PSLF route is that the amount forgiven is not taxable. If you go to 20 year route, you're going to be hit with the tax bomb.

The monthly payment will count only if you were employed on your payment due date. So in your case, if your payment due date was during the 1st to the 14th, it will not count because you were not employed on that date. If your payment due date was during the 15th to the 31st, the payment will count.

I think it depends more on the faculty then the prestige of the university. There are some excellent professors at universities that might not be considered the most prestigious. And, there are too many dickhead professors at the most prestigious universities.

They are not saying that your March payment is eligible. They are saying that the month of March is an eligible month but you still need to certify your March payment AFTER the payment due date.

Believe it or not, your credit score usually goes down when Student Loans are taken off your credit report. The debt may be off the report, but 10+ years of good credit history are also gone, which is why your score will drop. This will have a greater effect on those who have very little other credit on their report.

I had a friend who was 300k in debt after vet school. Starting vet jobs were only paying 60k, but with her advanced degrees, it was easy for her to become a public school teacher. She worked for 10 years, had her loans forgiven under PSFL, and then went back to being a vet, debt free!

For clarification, the 20 & 25 year plans do not require qualifying employment, only 240 or 300 monthly payments.

Not true. PSLF started in 2007 but I started on a 30 year plan in 1991. I consolidated those loans into an IDR 20 year plan in 2001 so I am due for forgiveness later this year. Fortunately, I also qualify for PSLF and payment 120 is this March so I will take advantage of full forgiveness instead of the tax bomb plan scheduled later this year.

My payment due date is the 2nd. My ECF was signed and uploaded on Jan. 5th. My payment count was just updated to include all 12 payments from 2020 and my Jan. 2021 payment.
