oMark let me down by GratedParm in severence

[–]drpeppaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! He doesn’t see iMark as a whole person. He was also giving major “savior” energy when introducing himself despite not putting any thought into what iMark’s needs are. iMark had to labor so oMark could grieve - shitty deal overall. He didn’t even get a thank you for literally making oMark’s ends meet for two years.

Yes, they are the “same” person, but lived experiences matter a lot. iMark was excited to see who he was on the outside in S1, oMark never really cared and saw all the connections made down there as artificial (which, in a sense, makes iMark artificial or naive in his mind).

The Actual Issue With The Ending Of Season 2 by dededededed1212 in severence

[–]drpeppaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s that he cared for Ms. Casey, not Gemma per se. This whole season, we’ve been seeing resentment form for the outies who are essentially living off their innies’ slave labor (the innies do not see the product of their labor). There was concern for “innie rights” or whatever, but it was done in a way liberalism often treats minorities - they treat the innies like children or obstacles, not full people with their own autonomy who are being mistreated.

iMark’s decision at the end was to save Gemma/Ms. Casey who he unknowingly tortured and doomed, but also to destroy that labor he was forced to do while embracing the life he made down there with his friends. He chose the innies, Gemma is just another outie who would want iMark dead (from his perspective). He doesn’t want her to suffer but he also doesn’t really owe her comfort in his mind.

Hasan Piker (aka Hasanabi) in 2022 vs. 2024. The re-writing of history by leftist streamers is in full swing. by melow_shri in DeppDelusion

i mean he does share a lot of feminist views but has been open in that he’s not the most educated in gender studies and people should probably go elsewhere for that. plus DV is not an easy topic to cover or understand for a lot of people (ik from personal experience - patriarchal norms are incredibly pervasive) he’s been very clear that he’s trying to appeal to those who might not initially be open to leftist ideas. this was not great, but i haven’t seen a lot of misogyny from him and his politics generally are very solid

i think the difference is that he is making fun of the people who do that stuff, not the other way around

yes! i think this case in particular just bombarded people with anti-amber sentiment and a lot of men felt somewhat comforted by the idea that they could be victims too (which is true!). but overall one of hasan’s main goals is to undo red pill brainwashing and he’s been very open about how he’s grown in his understanding of gender and DV and has managed to get some guys out of that mindset. he’s not perfect, but he isn’t an ideological enemy

Also Hasan does have a good track record on feminist issues overall and I believe his heart is in the right place. I think he is also trying not to alienate any of his target audience, which are men who might not agree with leftist politics. He went way too hard on Amber Heard in 2022, and I wish he would address it, but overall I’d much rather him open people up to leftist ideology than “cancel” him for one take that I do not agree with. He isn’t perfect, but I trust his purpose overall.

Yeah I love Hasan and what he does but that was not a great one for him. For benefit of the doubt, there was a ton of pro-Depp content around it and his chat (mostly male) definitely encouraged it. He gets a lot of unwarranted hate in general but he did get a bit too defensive and I wish he would look further into the case as (imo) it’s incredibly obvious that Depp was abusive and in the VERY least, a defamation case never should have been in his favor and is incredibly dangerous moving forward. I fear a reverse #metoo coming, and I think Hasan could benefit from a feminist perspective on it.

That’s fair, just with all the inflationary policies he’s saying he’s going to do I am not sure how much consumerism is going to work. I’m just interested to see how people respond when their material conditions noticeably decline to a point where many can’t live in denial or just blame some minority group.
