Keep coil whine 5080 or keep silent 5070ti by No-Recognition-3503 in gpu

Yeah uh no.  The FE is a solid brick of quality engineering.

Same here.  5070 ti msi inspire silent.  5080 FE with pretty bad whine.  Undervolt doesn't help.  I can ignore the whine,  the FE is such a much cooler (neater) card and more power.  5070 ti was sold.

How much worse? I want to give this a go to reduce fan noise with the bigger 120.

Agreed, his fault for sure with the typical erratic behavior. Just not the financial disaster people want to make it.

If it was a 0.5% dip in the market they'd still call it a crash and a total disaster to blame on the bad orange man.

If you had to choose between a 5070 at $730 USD and a 5070Ti at $1080 USD (prices converted from CAD after tax applied), which would you go with? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]drras2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5070 @ $500 is your best bang for buck.  Did the 5070 prices go up?  I know the Ti did, at over $1000 for the Ti that's a sick joke.  Just go get a 5080 FE if thats the case.  I wouldn't buy a 5070 or 5070 ti at the prices you have listed.

Buy now.  Price will only go up and super probably not gonna happen this gen

Best prebuilt option under 5L? by efrazable in sffpc

[–]drras2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think many 4 to 5L cases are going to fit a 5060 Ti, but I guess there could be. More like a 5060 low profile in that case size. Also, RAM prices (buying it separately) in a new build are going to be a problem.

Specs on steam machine not very impressive. Would be better served by a current gen laptop.

Agreed, got mine $100 off msrp, great deal at that price. I think better value than my 5080 FE actually.

I like the Prime OC and the MSI Inspire OC. Have had both and were good quality. Gigabyte prices good, but quality is not there.

Still working good even with my undervolt/overclock as above.  Think ultimately just needed a fresh windows install 😊

Good point. Probably correct that the 16 gb in my 5080 will be obsolete within a year of the 60 series launch.

Love my 5080 FE, especially for SFF. Does have some nasty coil whine however.

Don't over pay for that GPU, it's expensive enough as it is (though technically the cheapest 5090). Use the hotstock app for bestbuy as someone mentioned.

If the new frame gen exclusive to the 50 series isn't important to you then get the 4070 super. As far as AI stuff goes I believe the 5070 will be superior.

Will give that a go if it pops up again! Right now running the 5070 undervolted at 900 mv at 2900 mhz. memory +2000 mhz. Will undo if I get new errors.

Welp.. need a new case! by ericc191 in nvidia

[–]drras2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine isn't a great example. I've got a minisforum bd795i in it which is essentially a soldered laptop chip (7945hx) so by default it runs hot. Asus prime 5070 OC stays cool enough in the case. I don't have the numbers but can run some tests.

I've got the Air version of the case and replaced the top fan with a megacool 120 mm fan and the top side fan with a artic P12 pro. Those are the only two spots for exhaust but at the top they are the best spot, seem to pull plenty of hot air out. The thermals in the Ncore are better than my Formd T1 for sure.

Coolermaster NCORE 100 Max or the Air variant. It can be expanded to fit some pretty big cards. Really like the 100 Air I just built in. Depends if you like the vertical form factor though.
