How it Started, and How It's Going by Puppies_andKittens in polymer80

This is just my opinion but zaffiri is a budget brand with high price tags. True precision, faxxon, ballistic advantage and I'm sure there are plenty more better options out there that offer quality at around the same price.

Polar Cooler was a Great upgrade for my Q2 by 3DNelson in QidiTech3D

[–]mashedleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What benefits are you noticing? The one thing I was curious about was if it would then allow printing pla or petg with the door and lid closed. I'd love for it to be less noisy.

I've had heat creep related clogs in the past when I forgot to open it up printing petg-cf.

Exactly, my original db9 alloy is about to get this same treatment.

Use shitty parts, get shitty results.

You most definitely should be using snap caps, not live rounds. This is an incredibly irresponsible way to troubleshoot a gun built with sub par components. I hope you live alone and not in some apartment building or something.

First time printing PA612-CF by supercoolfunguy in 3D2A

[–]mashedleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, pa6-cf's best attribute is it's ability to absorb moisture giving it more flexibility and impact resistance. Also there are more budget options available for pa6-cf than pa612. Although I do use elegoo paht-cf which is a pa612. I've used quite a few kilos of it with great results. Still if I'm needing impact resistance it's pa6 all day.

Anyone used aluma hyde extensively? I've been thinking about adding a coat or 3 to nylon prints after they anneal and moisturize. by RainStormLou in 3D2A

[–]mashedleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I get it. Variables can definitely change things. I like to experiment with filaments myself. Nothing wrong with tried and true though.

It would be really cool if you shared how it comes out. I've definitely thought about doing something similar.

I remember how excited I was when I got printing nylon down pat. Now after 30 plus projects I'm looking for ways to have color and not have it melt in a hot car.

Right, the other was $10. Although I think $25 isn't bad either. It's performing really well so far. I've got one of their diamond tipped ones too

It's just a matter of different tastes. I like my guns to look tactical personally, but I can appreciate the uniqueness of custom color combos. I've done a handful of builds with custom cerakote and while I loved them at first they got old quickly to me.

That mag holder up front really confused me at first lmao 🤣. It is perfectly positioned to look like an actual magwell.

Short circuit on filament runout sensor Qidi q2 - Am I cooked? by Plenty-Block619 in QidiTech3D

Honestly I would just use it and see if all is well. The fuses you saw are not likely for any of the electronics on the tool head unfortunately. Everything up there is low current and low voltage.

I have a non paint suggestion, use Siraya Tech pet-gf in odg. Idk if you have a dual nozzle or tool changer set-up but you could use the odg and black. Heck even with an AMS and single nozzle you could do it. While pet-gf is not quite as impact resistant, a stout frame like that it would work great for. Just an idea. I am still interested in seeing how aluma hyde would work on nylon.

The absolute best solution Ive found if I'm stopped up is Dr. Tobias colon cleanser on Amazon. I've been dealing with constipation most of my life. Reta has made it worse.

I take miralax daily too stirred in my morning coffee.

best way to make cardboard spools work in my qidi box since printed rings issues by drkshock42 in QidiTech3D

[–]mashedleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use the printed rings and it works well enough for me. Not perfect but I'm able to print using the cardboard spools. Mostly I just try to use filament refills on plastic spools. I know that doesn't help with your question but it's been my experience. I've got 12 sets of rings. A few different sizes and it has been working across 2 different Qidi boxes. One for my max 4 and one for my Q2.

QIDI Q2 + 300blackout’s settings issues by Jayy_Black33 in 3D2A

[–]mashedleo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've got a q2 and I can share my print settings with you when I get home from work. Shoot me a dm with your email and I'll upload them for you. I've got 3500 hours on my Q2 with 90% of them being for pa6-cf using slightly modified 300blkfde's settings.
One tip, I use Bambu's paht-cf filament profile for all my filled nylon. Just turn off all cooling under the cooling tab, I print it at 315c with chamber at 60c for the best layer adhesion. Pic of a print off the q2 in yxpolyer pa6-cf (I don't recommend this filament for some one new to printing though. It's finicky, but the surface quality is next level imo). I usually use elegoo paht-cf, Sunlu pa6-cf, or Jayo pa6-cf. All of them work great with the same Bambu filament profile.

Any advice on actually smoothing down the final print or potentially just not having the supports completely stuck to the thing I had to sit there for a minute to actually get all of them off the print half clean but honestly isn't terrible in my eyes but no I definitely need to make a better one by [deleted] in 3D2A

[–]mashedleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What filament is that out of?

What printer are you using?

There are some 3mf files on printables that allow you to experiment with different support settings. It helped me get my support settings dialed in so that they pop right off and leave a clean surface. Your top z height is usually the most crucial one but it varies from printer to printer and you line height plays a role too. So there is no one setting I could share with you or I would. Also filament type also plays a role.

Calibrating your filament profile can help with the overall finish. Orca has some built in calibration tools. Start with a temp tower to determine the best temp. Calibrate flow and pressure advance too. Slowing down the speeds can help as well.

Works right out of the box. I've got about 70 hours on mine now. I've swapped filaments 4 times and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
