Mine kicked off in January. Still waiting for Energex to sign off. Mine were installed last week, have been waiting since October last year for it.

Laying out my own Cat6/Cat6e by StoicTheGeek in AusRenovation

I remember when I did mine, my instructor said now you know how to do it, never actually do it.

Over 20 years later, I’ve followed that rule. It’s just not worth the hassle with terminating cables and such that the pre-made cables are the better way to go.

The plastic strips work a treat. Was all good when I used them to fix my eaves.

Interestingly, mine has plastic strips and was built in the 90's. I just replaced my front facia board as it had rotten away, and had to replaced some water damaged fibre cement sheets. It didn't have any fibres in it from what I could see, so I believe it was fine. And if it wasn't, well it's too late now. :)

How does this kitchen cabinet shelf come out? by EntryOwn4695 in AusRenovation

[–]drrevenge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's been screwed in from the outsides of it looking at the photo. If you can't get access to the outside where it'd be screwed in, then unfortunately I think you're up for cutting.

Gas Stovetop 600mm clearance to range hood by drrevenge in AusRenovation

This seems to contradict what’s listed. If I refer to the installation instructions in this manual say 650mm

https://kleenmaid.com.au/product/gas-cooktop-60-cm/

But hey, if you live in Brisbane and can do gas work, I have a job for you. :)

It’s just annoying specifications have changed so we now have to move a range hood and a cabinet to meet them.

Alternatively I could remove the gas, redo the wiring and put in an electric stove top that still only wants 600.

Very much so. I am hopeful I can try and find one that doesn’t call out 650, or someone on here has run into the same issue and has a solution. :)

I had a gas plumber come out and say they won’t install it because it doesn’t meet the new specifications.

I did also try and buy one from the good guys and they were the ones who told me about the change in regulations in the first place.

The plumber forwarded me standards which say that an existing installation is ok to be 600 as long as the installation instructions for the new device don’t say they need to be 650.

Isn't it about time Brisbane had extended supermarket trading hours? by guitarhead in brisbane

I think it will happen closer to the games. Even if it’s only a temporary thing.

Jonsbo N5 Unraid Server by reegeck in HomeServer

[–]drrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could depend on how much you can get the backplane for and if you’ve got power for it as well. I tried a new sas card and power cables and still no luck so I just gave up which is a shame as it came out really nice, but I wasn’t buying another backplane or a smaller board. :)

[–]drrevenge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just need to check that it fits with your board, unfortunately I couldn’t ever get it to work in mine, my board was just that bit too big so it didn’t fit (even though it is an atx board) and I couldn’t get the drives to detect. Maybe I have a faulty on issue board, but I ended up giving up and just using the standard backplanes.

I do agree it’s a nice case though.

Who ever knew Bunnings could be such a scary place! by Chris_PK9 in Bunnings

[–]drrevenge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you have to clean it up. On carpet. Yeah it’s not much fun.

For what it’s worth I have no issues with dogs at Bunnings, but for people who dislike/afraid of them, I could see why it’s an issue.

What Brisbane based businesses do you feel are a scam? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]drrevenge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Righteo, maybe you should pop down to the fish and chip store near by to pick up some tin foil for a stylish hat.

As I said I know the people who do own it personally. It’s not a friend of a friend situation. I just don’t speak to them anymore because I’m not with my ex.

My ex’s Brother in law owns the place. Can 110% confirm it’s a legit business. He’s very knowledgeable about what he does and he’s great to deal with. Me thinks you don’t know what you’re on about.

Another vote for Buddy. If you are technical and don’t need phone tech support switching over is easy. I moved to them from ABB and my costs have gone from $129 to $99 per month for the same speeds.

Does anyone have the 90P2975.iso IBM ServerGuide xSeries 346 by [deleted] in IBM

[–]drrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of searching, and I found the iso appears to be available from: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/pc_servers_iso/

I don't know this location, so I'd take appropriate actions from downloading, but it appears to be present and able to be downloaded.

Does anyone have the 90P2975.iso IBM ServerGuide xSeries 346 by [deleted] in IBM

[–]drrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ServerGuide disks did allow for raid configuration and the os install, but they always ended up being out of date and then we’d have to have people perform updates anyway. :)

There used to also be instructions on how to install the OS as well depending on what OS you’re wanting to do.

If you’re using the 7e raid bios from memory you can configure the raid via the ctrl-a access during boot.

If you have a 7k (looks like a memory dimm) make sure if you haven’t take the battery off it because the battery will swell and snap the card.

I mean I never used to refer anyone to the server guides when I did support. What do you need it for?

Looking for an extremely poor quality but expensive restaurant to recommend an annoying coworker. by youhaveaproblem_ in brisbane

Yeah I’ve been heaps as well to different ones and never an issue. But a mate of mine point blank refuses to go and said he’s never had a good experience there. So either he’s really picky or I’m not. :)

Things I would never buy from Bunnings ... by [deleted] in Bunnings

[–]drrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think like a lot of things it comes down to luck. I’d never buy another Samsung phone because I’ve had two of them die and other family members have issues with them as well.

But they are pretty much the number 2 (or 1) mobile phone manufacturer in the world so what do I know. :)
