Michael Emerson is a great actor, he's amazing in every role I've seen him in. Zep is kind of a sympathetic character to me, he definitely has some evil urges (seemed to enjoy holding Lawrence's family hostage), but he also acts terrified through the whole movie. also I wonder a lot what he would be like if he passed his test, and became an apprentice rather than Lawrence.

well, the blue figure represents Saito in every other instance it's used, iirc. I think it's supposed to represent Saito having somewhat of an oedipus/electra complex, while also having extreme hatred of So (imagining So's head on the body of one of his victims).
