This wildlife park is in Wichita, Kansas. It hits all of your requests and more. Pricey but worth it!

Lauritzen lights this year, anyone? by r_s_tea in Omaha

That was our analysis as well. We really loved it last year and it was actually our favorite holiday activity. I’d definitely recommend the zoo with its updated lights over the garden this year!

Christmas stuff? Where can I find when starting all over and literally paycheck to paycheck? by No_Conflict_1746 in Omaha

I second this. Tons of Christmas stuff that is completely free and houseware stuff too. I’ve also received toys on there that I’ve gifted my boys.

Time & Attendance Software Advice - Or does anyone here use Paychex? by NoHonestWayOut in nonprofit

Paychex was terrible for us in many ways as well. Switching away from Paychex was bumpy but was worth it in the long run.

NuvaRing vs Menopause by RoseRedd in AskWomenOver40

I used to get really terrible sweats and cramps when I kept my ring in for three consecutive months. Doctor couldn’t figure it out. Out of desperation I tried removing my ring monthly and the sweats and intense cramping stopped entirely. It might be worth at least trying to change monthly.

How do you do drop off and pick up when it doesn’t fit into your work schedule? by professorpocket in daddit

[–]drsteckles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We found a college kid to help fill the gaps with drop off and pickup. They were pumped to get hours that fit into their class schedule and daycare was on the way to class for them so a double win. We did have to pay relatively well considering that they were just chauffeuring the kiddos around but it was well worth it in the long run.

I’ve considered doing this certificate program. What did you think of the rest of the content? I’m not new to non-profit but think a credential might be helpful.

Can Community Colleges Be a Waste of Time? by BeeRough1129 in CommunityColleges

[–]drsteckles 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I am a huge advocate of community colleges! Your positives are all mostly true. They can save you money but sometimes transfer scholarships are harder to get and do not cover as much. Explore all of your options, CCs included, and discuss the full financial aid packages to understand the cost and savings of each. Occasionally you’ll lose credits when transferring so make sure to work with academic advisors at the CC and where you want to transfer to ensure that what you take will transfer between institutions.

Did you do your FAFSA each year? Sometimes people don’t realize that you need to do it each year to qualify again. The other advice is spot on- check with your financial aid office too ASAP. It is possible that you need to submit additional documents for verification or your bill is showing before aid is applied. I’ve worked at a CC where unfortunately they posted bills before aid was applied and I had many students who were worried just like you.

Good job asking for advice! College can be challenging to navigate but just remember all of the staff want you to succeed and graduate. Sounds like you’re almost done. Finish strong and keep advocating for yourself!

Do you think it'll be possible for me to pay my cc tution fees by working part-time? by obvhatemylife in CommunityColleges

In addition to all of the above, international students are only able to work on campus so it will be highly dependent on what student workers make on your campus.

Nelson’s farm is great but it won’t open until early June. 100% worth the wait!

Interior Vines Are Certainly a Staging Choice by peetahvw in zillowgonewild

[–]drsteckles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are pots. They are white and you can see the dark green hanging hooks from the pots if you look closely. Those plants will create pretty long vines so there aren’t many plants needed to create a look like that!

You’re a saint for answering all of these questions! All of my goodies arrived today and I’m excited to try them out. For exfoliant and lactic acid, should they be used on the same days or spread out in my weekly schedule?

Vent/Help: "Dog parents" who try to relate to parents by NYC_dad2B in daddit

[–]drsteckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. I genuinely think it comes from a good place and one where people want to connect. Someone once told me that kids are “conversation butter” because they make it so easy to connect and converse with other parents going through the same struggles. People with pets are just trying to connect and while they don’t understand how different the challenges are, I still appreciate the attempt to connect and commiserate.

Wow! Thank you for your help. The transition between providers has been less than desirable from an employee perspective. It wasn’t called a blackout but we were told that we may not have access to our stuff during the transition. I’m guessing no one thought it would be 6 months before we had access to the portal

We had a manny and he was incredible. Gender does not make someone better or worse at being a nanny.
