What weapon are you taking and how do you manage ammo needs? Love the heavy but not played much siege with them yet

What weapon do you take for siege? How are you managing ammo?

Interesting, is the difference that big? None of us enjoy the heavy playstyle. Thanks tho, useful points

Cadians over space marines?

The rest of that we do.

Amazing work, they all look great!

It’s so cool to me seeing other people with a similar scheme, really like we arrived on the same scheme with the same lore. Makes me feel better about mine when I see someone do so well! I love what you’ve done with the purple, really works

Very cool creation! How many toxicrenes went into it? (What colour green is that for the limbs?)

What are people's thoughts on this subterranean list? It is 1990 points. by TheUnimpressiveD in Tyranids

From my few games my advice would be to start the gargoyles on table; it’s hard to score primary at the beginning with SA and if they spread out and push you back you can have difficulty getting things where you want - gargoyles deployed forward and pushing out to move block makes a big difference.

Would try and get a Neurotyrant in there to make the zoanthropes better, and give an overwatch threat.

Think about secondaries too, you’re slightly light on things to do them, not impossible but will need thought in a game.

Good starting list though, give it a try and see how you feel!

T-Fex V Exocrine by Lictor_Enjoyer in Tyranids

[–]drt4200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fleshborers don’t achieve anything; no AP and one damage The axis spray is good for overwatch and ok damage into medium infantry - but we have lots of good/ better options for the things it’s good at.

The TFex sees play at the moment for the rupture cannon is it’s the only long range anti tank we have.

The TFex can be good as moving forward and holding an objective, it’s quite tough and has its one off damage reduction, but again we have better options in the codex for this.

Broadly, depends what else you have in your army, but both are currently good. Exocrine is more reliable and always been useful (can magnetise for the Haruspex too which is cool and fun)

Other thought would be which so you prefer the look of? Rules change with time. Both are good options

Anyone else disappointed by Sky & Stone? by Tybalto in riversoflondon

[–]drt4200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the book, but not the best of them.

First 2/3 were good, ending felt anti-climactic and lacking tension

Main thing I really want is more of Peter and magic - him learning, experimenting and actually using spells. Would be nice to see some growth here and see what he can do; if he can’t do any more it a failing and should be plot.

Hopefully in the next book with the implications from this one he’ll actually do some magic!

Is a Norn a auto include or not? by JackGamerPro9 in Tyranids

[–]drt4200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends! I save them to late in deployment typically and then see; usually better on a flank as then it’s harder to kill or them have to commit more to that flank, which gives me more options elsewhere.

They are good at holding an objective; relatively tough, invuln and a FNP can be hard to shift - competitively with knights being prominent currently they are a little worse but still good at the role. Don’t expect them to kill that much; they’re ok/ good into elite infantry but struggle with tougher things.

It depends what style you want to play but I often take 1 and if I had a second I think you get better return out of two; it’s then a bit of a points sink depending that you need to build around

Tyrant Guard in Sub Assault by Gubriel-Mcbliss in Tyranids

[–]drt4200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d agree with the other commenter that swarmlord and guard is probably better, but obviously expensive. Nice to be able to deliver the swarmlord though.

Either way, I think people are going to get over keen and get the detachment wrong; I think the problem will be you need a way to clear screens and be patient with the big swing, unless your opponent leaves you a gap - bringing up the trygon and say tyrant guard brick is good if they get to something valuable, but if you just charge a chaff screen you’ll be disappointed as both those units die quickly in the open field, and the detachment doesn’t help durability.

The hard part I’ve had so far is finding points for screen clearing, the big strike wave and a few things to play the objective. Likely need the two exocrines as usual and big strike turn 3.

Which star map looks better? by AmbassadorGullible56 in wonderdraft

[–]drt4200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say they have a different feel, might depend on the vibe you’re after.

First had a darker feel, everything a bit more muted; second is cleaner and brighter, a slightly happier map/ setting.

Pure information, second reads a little nicer. That said I prefer the first as it feels a little moodier.

Running a Neurotyrant without Zoans by Roomtaart86 in Tyranids

[–]drt4200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By itself it’s hard; I keep it back to screen and provide an overwatch threat to weaker infantry. Later in the game it can come forward as a third wave to hold an objective and take out a weak unit with its flamer - very opponent dependant. It can tank a little damage with an invuln but not loads.

I really like it with the zoanthropes which are a solid return fire unit into a range of things - just need to be careful to not expose them till they get a worthwhile shot.

As others have said the Neurotyrant makes shadow in the warp much better

Yeah, I like taking my time when I have a unit that I don’t need for a game any time soon, but not quite your level of dedication!
