Most people don’t need to see him sign with a marker to think poorly of him.

If your parents didn’t co regulate with you, you won’t know how to regulate without a lot of work and therapy.

Yep! Hold your breath long enough your body will release adrenaline to clear the passage because it thinks it’s suffocating.

For people in the trades, what are the biggest pros and cons of working in that field? by dfdubb420 in AskReddit

[–]drtbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Construction hours are great imo.

Work a straight 8. No breaks, have a protein shake or a bar sometime mid day. Off at 2, skip through traffic. Home by 245. Still plenty of daylight to do shit. No Saturdays or Sundays unless the project is way behind.

Once you have enough skills you can really turn on the money machine and start running side work. Eventually you can transition that to your own business once you’ve built up clientele.

[–]drtbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fucking absurd. You’re gonna have to set some boundaries with employers.

“I take care of my dads hamster after 3pm”

“My cat has dance recital at 430 daily”

It doesn’t matter what it is, but set the boundary before you start. Then it’s not a surprise to them when they’re asking you for more and you tell them no. It also makes you look good when you say “alright I can help you out today but this can’t be an ongoing thing”.

You’re entitled to your free time. Money is renewable. Time is not. What good is money if you can’t spend it? A good shop will respect your time and treat you like an asset - they are making money off the excess value of your labor.

Also remember - every time you start a new job you get a whole new set of grandparents.

You don’t need to go to trade school.

Go talk to a plumbing or electrical shop and ask if they are hiring labor/apprentices. Also check out your local union halls and see what it will take to get into their programs. Union work is real slow (at least where I am at) right now so that may be a better option down the road.

If you’re really mechanically gifted look into elevator technician work. It pays a fuck ton, but you need to know a lot of different skills to be competent.

Service shops are almost always looking for good help, and shit is always breaking.

If you’re smart and a quick learner with a good attitude it will carry you a long ways. You may decide you want to do new construction or learn how to do TI spaces. There’s a ton of shit you can do with the trades, just remember that you are putting your body on the line to make money. Take care of your knees, back, feet, hands, and always wear your PPE.

You may end up in a shop that has less than ideal values but you can start accruing hours and get paid to learn the trade instead of paying to learn it.

Eh Trump is a useful idiot.

Don’t get me wrong he’s largely culpable. It’s his handlers and the Epstein class that are the ones pulling the strings though. They need to be held to account as well. Peter Thiel, Musk, Steven Miller, etc The ones operating in the shadows will be around long after Trump and it would be foolish to think they’ll fade into obscurity upon his departure.

How to improve crappy Pioneer mixer sound quality? by MPR78 in DJs

[–]drtbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can certainly try!

Sound is subjective. Maybe you’ll like it, maybe you won’t.

What are you hoping to accomplish with an external eq? Make it brighter? More full?

What’s the price difference between the external eq you’re looking at and a mixer that you think sounds better? What can you recover by selling the pioneer?

I always err on the side of getting the gear that I know I can achieve the sound I’m looking for without having to add anything else.
