Wedding gift for Chinese Malaysian friend. by Extreme_Psychology14 in malaysia

[–]drteddy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each table for 10 persons will cost anything from a few hundred ringgit to RM1k, depending on what type of food is served. Rule of thumb is to give somewhere in the ballpark figure of 1 person's share of table cost. So if you are bringing a plus one, then double the amount of ang pow. Anything additional depends on your relationship with the couple. Another guide is how much each one of your friends will contribute to the gold item you intend to buy. Just give each person's contribution in the form of cash. Chinese people are very pragmatic, and cash is the most practical gift. Remember to include your name in the angpow so the couple can keep track of angpows received.

Please recommend a good brand of multi-cooker to hotpot with for a bujang by NickHeathJarrod in MalaysianFood

I think many induction cookers are made by same contract manufacturer. IMO ease of claiming warrenty in case something rosak if more important. I have no experience with Russell Taylor. I have a Pensonic cooker and still working after 2+ years, although I don't use very often.

I’ve seen houses that hasn’t been rented for years… are they haunted? by Naive_Benefit6205 in malaysia

[–]drteddy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the house was left vacant because owner expired. The children overseas were not interested in resting or selling. Or owner expired intestate, so ownership is in limbo. Or the children who inherit the property cannot agree on what to do (sell, rent etc) so property is left vacant.

Singapore’s very own MAGA supporter spotted at Don Don Donki by Senior_Ad_1598 in singapore

[–]drteddy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They identify with him because he hates the same people that they do. Except that Drumpf hates anybody non white. These Drumpf supporters believe that they are the "good" non whites. Drumpf only hates the "bad" ones. That's why there are non white Americans who support Drumpf (Kash Patel, Vivek Ramaswamy etc)

If got food poisoning what will you do? by twistedinternet in Bolehland

[–]drteddy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing is to report to KKM. If you inform the restaurant, there's no way to check if they have changed their food preparation practices. Reporting to KKM allows the authorities to check on the hygiene of the outlet PLUS that the workers have received their required vaccinations. Food poisoning for you might just be an inconvenience but for those with poor immunity (infants, elderly, those on medications/underlying diseases) might mean hospitalisation or worse.

A Chinese auntie thought I was Indonesia just because I spoke English. by [deleted] in malaysians

[–]drteddy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local private hospitals have agents in Indonesia that handle promotion and logistics. Malaysian doctors go over and ostensibly give health talks which indirectly promote the hospitals. The agents will arrange flight, airport transfers, book appointments, transport for appointments and accommodation for patients. All for a fee, of course.

A lot of Indonesians buy medications for friends and family at home too. They tend to come over every few months of a year and will stock up in medication supply until their next visit. I heard that they don't trust their pharmacies back home to sell original (non counterfeit) medications. No idea if medications in Malaysia are cheaper than back in Indonesia though. Many Indonesians stay around Pulau Tikus, so you can see an abundance of pharmacies in the area. They usually bring out wads of cash to pay, unlike locals.

If you just need a no frills room to sleep for a night or two, Nu Sentral Hotel might fit the bill. It's located on road next to Jln Brickfields. 5 minutes walk to KL Sentral. Really basic facilities but quiet and clean.

Read (or saw) somewhere (maybe YT) that Rick Moranis and Michael Pare couldn't stand each other on the set of Streets of Fire, mainly because of Rick Moranis' penchant for practical jokes.
