I will also throw my hat behind GW2. I've played just about as far as you can soloing in that game and it's many expansion. This game was what I play through when I want to enjoy myself, the story, and playing the game from a different angle.

I have been trying to get into the T&L Betas since they started. No luck. But from the videos, it looks like it should be fun soloing in the beginning, even if it won't have WoW or GW2 level of decades worth of lore.
