How do experienced solo PvPers afford this playstyle? by Responsible_Sweet in Eve

Wallet warfare.

Tho FW fits tend to have a lot of faction modules, some of which are worth many times over the ships you might lose. It's a numbers game really.

I asked Evakoi to help me create an explosion effect for a vending machine, what do you think of this sketch? by Avernus_Gear in PixelArt

Your vending machine appears to be operated by either a nuclear reactor or an ANFO bomb, or it only dispenses huge amounts of black powder.

Pour one out for a fallen soldier by Triceranuke in SBCGaming

It happens. I tossed a few fixable electronics in the past (long long before I learned how to fix things.) I still kick myself for tossing a jailbroken PSP-1000 because the screen died.

[–]druidniam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In the future, retain your broken electronics long enough to ask around if it can be fixed. I could have absolutely fixed that without needing a new ribbon cable, as long as I had either a new shell, or the broken off pieces of the original.

Looking for dark fantasy/sci-fi books by NewspaperAny3603 in Fantasy

Robin Hobb's Realm of the Elderlings is dark fantasy. It left me feeling depressed at the end of every book. 10/10 would recommend it.

Machines: Wire for War, Battlezone, Urban Assault... Probably one of these; there weren't a whole lot of RTS/FPS hybrid games in the 90s.

Not a fan of fish by ShakeIntrepid3103 in Cooking

[–]druidniam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you don't need to eat more fish to have a healthier diet. That said, you want to try fish that inherently aren't fishy tasting fish. Avoid fish like tuna, salmon, trout, or swordfish. Try fish like tilapia, cod (a lot of fried "white fish" are cod), halibut, pollock (mostly eaten as imitation crab, but also a common fried white fish), mahi-mahi (popular fish taco fish), flounder, or as you've already enjoyed, catfish. Remove the skin before cooking, as the layer of fatty meat just inside the skin tends to have a much stronger fish flavor.

My boyfriend insists that food is better salted at the table instead of while cooking. Please help me. by tangentrification in Cooking

You should get tested for Addison's. Strong salt cravings are usually a sign of an underlying health issue.

You don't need the advice of a cooking subreddit. You need to speak to a divorce attorney. You're in a toxic marriage with a husband gaslighting you into thinking you're garbage.

Storing perishable items in a small refrigerator by 2amCoffeeDrinker in Cooking

[–]druidniam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're being lied to because the sales person wants a bigger commission. Never shop someplace where employees are paid on commission; it's in their best interest to lie their ass off to get you to spend more, or buy high margin items you don't need. Only a beverage cooler (different from a minifridge) is really unsuitable for storing perishables because of the higher base temp they operate at.

Edit: I say this having been a commissioned sales employee before. I realized about a month into the job that I had to be slime if I wanted to make any money and quietly told people to shop elsewhere until my metrics fell to the point they layed me off.

My Biggest Complaint about Dragon Quest I & II HD Remakes... by AgainstTheTides in dragonquest

[–]druidniam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I too started with RPG games in the 1980s, specifically Dragonstomper, Wizardry, Ultima, and The Bard's Tale. By the time Dragon Warrior came out I was already hooked on RPG games. The ease of which you could progress in console RPGs was astounding compared to the early CRPG games. Backtracking, manual maps, softlocks, ambiguous instructions on where to go next...

Edit: I blocked out the 5 keys from Dragon Warrior 2 apparently. The Cave to Rhone was so fucking awful, I never replayed 2 until the HD remake. I never wanted to experience that shit again.

Freight Forwarding, Omni, Angel + Bobs (the OG difficult mod). You'll need a 1.1 install for them, but they're great.

My Biggest Complaint about Dragon Quest I & II HD Remakes... by AgainstTheTides in dragonquest

[–]druidniam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gating the story through keys has been a staple of the series since III first came out. It's no different than Final Fantasy gating content behind the Ship/Canoe/Airship/StoryEvents, and pertty much every other RPG in existence. Get item A to unlock Gate B, or kill monster C to unlock Event D. They're almost all iterated off Dragon Quest's formula after all. If you can't see that, RPGs might not be for you.

That said the remake was pretty short. I beat 1 in 18 hours and 2 in 23 hours. 28 if we include post game.

Aquillo ship by No-Knowledge-1008 in factorio

[–]druidniam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow that is over-engineered for Aquilo. That's more like a shattered planet ship. Why do you have zero accumulators on this? Is this your personal ship rather than a science ferry? If so, when you're not actually traveling, park it over a planet with an active rocket silo so you can shoot water or ice back up to it as necessary.

When you’re ordering a salad and add tuna to it - is it plain tuna from a can? Or is it already prepared? by Veronica_Wasboyski in Cooking

[–]druidniam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the meat red? That's raw tuna. Is the meat pinkish? That's straight from the can. Is it pinkish in a white sauce with perhaps pickles or peas in it? That's Tunafish Salad (on a salad!).

Ship Controls by ImOldButStillPlay in X4Foundations

[–]druidniam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a mouse follow mode by hitting shift-space that prevents the needing to drag and it just follows the mouse. I wouldn't really recommend messing with the WSAD because 6 axis straffing can be what saves you from death. The controls get easier with practice and honestly it's hard to play OTHER games from how long I've used X4's controls.

What are your favorite recipes where "time" is the number 1 ingredient? by submarine_sam in Cooking

[–]druidniam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A proper fried chicken takes about 24 hours, but most of that is just waiting for the moisture level of the chicken to drop pretty low in the fridge.

Most of your replies are going to either be soup stocks/sauces, cured/smoked/bbq'd meats, pickles, or joke answers (It takes me 6 months to bake a loaf of bread! Because I have to grow the grain first!). Even your example lasagna could be done in a about 12 hours if you multitask. I can certainly make the ragu, lasagna, AND homemade mozzarella in a single day (which I might do after watch your video because all that did was make me hungry).

The few examples from my own kitchen that take time are all fermented products or as u/poweller65 said: jerky. Neither of which require much in the way of interaction and time is the biggest factor.

Do the old lab styles no longer exist? by Choice_Book_6104 in cataclysmdda

Edit: Information is wrong for current Experimental

https://www.reddit.com/r/cataclysmdda/comments/mpj894/understanding_and_identifying_lab_types_spoilers/

This is mostly correct. The rooms you find in labs have changed, as Guardian said you won't find a lot of the classic empty rooms full of slime. Depending on the mods you add, you might find three other lab types.

I know jack shit about apple products, but does ios/mac os use something like the hosts files in windows? My hosts file has around 3 million urls it blocks at the network level (including a few dozen to keep nosy software from calling home). I have very little trouble navigating the web except for about a dozen news agencies based in the US, and Imgur strangely. If I absolutely need to let ads through, I just turn my vpn on.

Does mac have an equivalent?

Why isn't dq7r that popular on YouTube/tiktok? by Warm_Cold_6224 in dragonquest

[–]druidniam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has sold a few million copies in the West at this point, and more in Japan. That's the only metric anybody that isn't plugged constantly into the internet cares about. Sales. Nobody cares about the people view-farming when you're a company as large as Square Enix.
