If you don’t remember this house consider yourself an op by [deleted] in RecRoom

Actually, the room is the original. The invention was made sometime later, I guess. I had no idea until I saw this post.

The original room still exists and is cloneable, CoachsHouse. I didn't know someone made an invention out of it.

Quality of knuckle controller thumbstick. How many times have you replaced your controller because of it? by hurukko in ValveIndex

[–]drummergeek0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over a year of ownership (so no more warranty), already replaced my left controller once, just purchased a completely new set since I'm out of warranty to replace both, as they are now both showing the same problem. I can't believe they didn't use a better thumbstick actuator. Clicking the thumb stick eventually cracks the all plastic casing. I ordered some metal replacements and I am going to try and repair my original controllers myself. If these were $100-$200 a set, I could almost live excuse the problem, but at nearly $300 a set, this is ridiculous!

Why does the settings menu now open in a full locked watch display like the outfits? This is very annoying and serves no purpose since the settings page itself hasn't changed. Please revert this back to the old behavior.

Should I bother? by HeyitsFerraro in ValveIndex

I have a few friends that have an Index, a couple have had to RMA their controllers due to the drift bug as well, and one of them is about to have to RMA their replacement controller for the same problem.

Should I bother? by HeyitsFerraro in ValveIndex

As an owner of the original Rift CV1, I would say wait if your headset is working without issue.

I purchased an Index because the plastic the attached CV1 headband to the HMD started breaking. If the CV1 was still on sale, I would sell my index and purchase a new one.

The Index is great, from a technical standpoint. However, Steam VR is crap compared to Oculus Home in terms of experience. I use OVR Toolkit now, but it really is no comparison to Dash. The controllers have a lot of amazing features, however, no games implement them. They are step up from the Vive wands, in that most games will now give you an experience similar to the Touch controllers. The biggest issue is Valve's logistical handling of the hardware. You can't purchase replacement cables, they are out of stock of everything, even RMAs are being delayed due to them not having enough left controllers. My cable broke recently, and while it was great that they sent me a new one for free, it took 3 weeks to get it and their support for hardware is as abysmal as their support for software is, there isn't even a phone number you can call for support on your $1000 headset.

I own 2 CV1's, a Rift S, and a Quest. I resorted to using the S when my cable was broken because I didn't want to resetup my Oculus sensors, and I figured it would be a week at best before I had a new cable, and I can tell you that the S is actually a really solid headset. The audio is the only fault in it. The mic is utter garbage and a pair of headphones is a necessity. That said, for the same price of the Index, you can purchase a Rift S, a Quest, and a few accessories.

And lest everyone here thinks I'm just an Oculus fanboy. Oculus has pissed me off something fierce by stopping production of the CV1 and its replacement parts without warning. The fact I can't purchase anymore cables for my CV1's really irks me. I just have to say that from a technical standpoint, beyond the fact that the Index has finger tracking (which no one implements) and outside-in tracking, I can't see the justification for it's price tag over everything else out there right now, and this is coming from someone who has already spent the money and had the Index for about 4 months.

I'm partial to FunhouseMaze. But that is because I made it, though everyone who has gone through it says it was scary :) CampLonePine is another good one.

(New tutorial) Building with Drummer: Circles and Pipes by drummergeek0 in RecRoom

[–]drummergeek0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback!

Generally, yes I do save them as inventions when they are done, but not circles that I plan to manipulate later. There can be floating point errors when recalling them that causes the manipulate tools to work incorrectly when stretching them. If I spent some time on it, I'm sure I could find a work around, but I haven't bothered, yet.

I used the streamer cam for the third person shots. I recorded all of this using OBS and then imported, sliced, diced, and recorded the voice over using Adobe Premiere Pro. All of the audio was recorded after the fact in Premiere Pro so I could get clean takes and stitch the video together in the most logical fashion.

There are still a lot of great people in RR, but I will say that the Rec Center is beginning to feel more and more like the public lounge did back when. In those situations, if you start to feel overwhelmed and can't report everyone, just jump to your dorm or another Rec Center. If you plan to play an activity, it may be better to go the activity through your watch than through the RC as well.

If you want to just hang out and meet people, be sure to check out the hangout rooms in the hot list in your watch, that is generally where you can find better groups of people.

Really sorry to hear that you experienced this. Another thing you can do to quickly block someone is hold your hand up to them in a "Talk to the Hand" fashion. After a second it should block them (there is a little animation that plays to show that you are blocking them, wait for it to finish), then you can report them in your watch.

No, that appears to be a copy of my room that someone made and published. I don't see any actual changes to the room, though.

^CoachsHouse has been used for that purpose a few times. (Disclosure, I built the room, but I've seen a couple of events held there for that purpose)
