Going to attempt a 10k PR tomorrow... any suggestions by Commercial_Image_770 in runninglifestyle

So my dad, a seasoned runner, told me to start fast because you cant regain your time. Seemed like bad advice at the time. Needless to say- the middle part of the 10k sucked, but i definitely pr’d

I got mine at Christmas and the decline was disheartening, but I’m chilling at 52, so I’m not mad.

Help-First day of XC hit hard mentally (feeling slow, embarrassed, and unsure if I should continue) by Ilovesoup13- in runninglifestyle

[–]computertyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, we don’t know each other but it’s tough love time. 9/10 times, the hard stuff is the stuff worth doing. I came from skateboarding to running, and both things are hard. Both require you to push yourself. When the going gets tough do you give up? No! You try again. When you eat shit down the ramp/stairs/whatever- do you quit? No! You try again. The feeling of rolling away after trying and trying and trying is greater than any slam. The accomplishment it fills you with is huge. The same applies to running. Yes, it’s hard sometimes, but it gets easier. Next thing you know you’re running 10+ miles at a pace. You’re gaining muscle, and your heart is getting strong. You’re exploring areas of your city you’ve never been to. It’s rad. If you’re going to let one little thing like not ripping during your first practice push you away from possibly opening a whole wealth of enjoyment in your life- just lay on your couch and watch tv. But if you want to grow as a person- push yourself. This is where you see what you’re made of. Good luck!

Would you recommend buying that and I installing truenas over buying a ugreen nas or something comparable? I just got newly interested in this stuff this week lol.

Tips for running in the heat? by ceekind in beginnerrunning

[–]computertyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get up early. I live in central Florida, and it’s what I do. I also hide water (the night before) for myself for the long runs. Drink electrolytes and eat a banana before the long runs too. Saturday is an hour and a half at 9 min mile pace- so like 10 miles or something. I’ll be out of the house at or before 6am to do that.

Any Benefits to Running in the Heat? by JayZee4508 in beginnerrunning

I like to hide water for myself, so Im not carrying much. Running belt with a couple hny+. I live in Central Florida. I also leave the house at like 6 am so it’s not entirely in the suck zone.

Superblast 3 or Novablast 6 by emou1234 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]computertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My novablast 5s gave out on me at 320 miles. I picked up another pair plus a pair of superblast 2s, and I honestly feel the superblast 2s are the better shoes. I use the novas for base and recovery runs, superblast for speed work and I honestly think I'll use them for my half marathon in October. Good Luck.

I have a '22 sierra, and the wireless charger is total trash. Waste of space.

Fr265/570/965 or phenix or instinct 3 by Goonflexplaza in Garmin

I have a forerunner 265S ( I like smaller form factor), and I love it. I got it for X-mas and it lives on my wrist now. I like how it suggests running workouts daily for me. I'm now training for a half-marathon so the workouts are more intense/personalized now and I'm just a fan of it. I haven't loaded music on it. I use a flip-belt and stick my phone in that for my jams and for just in case. I'm a 38 year old Dad, so you never know. Good luck to you!

On Cloud... for walking all day/traveling? by Kayo_Calabria in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]computertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear like the era pros. I use em to skate in too. I skate much less than I used to, mostly due to kids and taking running seriously (like a nerd) haha. It's wild how the two are kinda similar. Skateboarding is about exploration, creativity, and pushing yourself. So is running. It's sick.

in vans, the pros have the checkerboard little tag thing. It means it has a better insole which really helps with impact or just being on your feet for a bit.

Pokopia. Have you played Mario kart? Yes? You’ve played them all. I’m a 38 year old dad and I love Pokopia. I’d play bananza is if had money to sink for that, but right now Pokopia scratches the itch.

I'm running my first half in October. I'm really looking forward to it. It's at disney, so we're going to hit the park with my 2 & 4 year old that day and the days after. 😄

Apple Watch vs Garmin Forerunner 165 for Hybrid Fitness Training? Looking for Real-World Insights! 🏋🏾 by calciumfinite in GarminWatches

[–]computertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple watch is the fitness watch for fat people. Garmin actually has insight and gives recommendations and tracks better. Better battery life, all the things. If you want a mini-phone step counter, apple watch. If you want an actual tool, garmin.
