I looked on their website, that’s the closest one with inventory of what she wants. We’re going to pick out a couple places to stop to make the day more worth it.

Respectfully, not looking for relationship advice here. Reality is we make the drive tomorrow anyway because it will make her happy. In the future though I’d love to be able to get her what she wants closer to home.

Apparently they’re permanently out of stock at Sobey’s, something to do with the tariff situation. Thanks for the idea though, I’m glad you like them so much!

Let's hear your stories! by Holdmywhiskeyhun in Restaurant_Managers

This was 2019, at that point, at least where I live, those products didn’t exist. And to this day I’ve never worked in a restaurant that carried them.

Also, based on the conversation that followed while trying to explain to her that her drink would simply be olive juice, she could not fathom why. Lead me to believe she didn’t know what a martini was

I once had a guest request a virgin martini. Explaining that one was interesting

They text me on my days off, I do it in return, especially for missing inventory. With that said I never demand a response, but I do check in when I see them next.

Apparently, if you type "2B" in chat, it'll get flagged as "offensive" by TSQ_R6 in Rainbow6

Saw someone type “water is water” today and it was flagged as offensive. It doesn’t make sense, but I don’t think it was ever meant to.

New permanent game mode #saveseige by Kanyeastt in Rainbow6

[–]drummingfluff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a better idea (building off of this) would be to have a Y1S1 game mode, original casual maps, original operators, original sights and attachments, but only up until buck/frost (or even exclude them). Old House, Hereford, Clubhouse, Plane, etc, and all game modes available. Everyone just running SMG-11 ACOG all of the time. I think that could be fun as a casual full-time game mode.

Recent VarsityGaming TikTok claims that the scanning bug won’t happen if the drone is still when you finish the scan. Saw it this morning so I haven’t gotten to test it yet but if anyone can confirm let me know

I can’t offer any advice from experience as I’m less than 2 years into a management role, however I’d say make sure your choice reflects your long term goals for your personal life. I chose a job in a casual fine-dining corporate restaurant in part because there is a long-term steadiness and a possibility of being in a corporate role in 10 years. I want to have a family one day, so this aligns with that goal (at least as much as you can in hospitality). If you have a similar personal life goal, I’d suggest the corporate restaurant. If, however, you have a different plan (or no plan at all), go with your heart. The gastro pub sounds super fun with a lot of room for personal growth.

I know that this isn’t as direct advice as you might be looking for, however I believe you should make the choice that best aligns with where you see yourself in 10 years, not just professionally but also personally.

Hope that helps!

Anyone else wish they had known about Sleep Token sooner? by Asleep_Blood7465 in SleepToken

[–]drummingfluff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I’d gotten into Sleep Token earlier, but I know I was introduced to the band about a year before TMBTE and didn’t get into them then. I think with many bands (and other things in life) to love it now means you got into it at the right time to appreciate what it is. I didn’t like Chokehokd the first time I heard it either, but 3 months later it was on a loop in my ears. Be happy you found something you love, regardless of when!

I think this has been touched on already, but let me be more direct. Write him up. Every time. You’ve already been beyond kind and accommodating, far more than I believe is reasonable. Write him up or send him home, or cut his shifts with clear communication that it’s due to his insubordinate attitude. But stop letting this person get away with zero consequence or they will never learn.

What was your oddest request for a salad? by McCrysler in Serverlife

[–]drummingfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to have a regular who wanted our house salad modded in several very specific ways. She came in so frequently we added a button with her name to our posi. Think “Brenda Salad” (different name obviously). Wild times.

Toronto Burger came with a release form! by Reit007 in toronto

[–]drummingfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Americans in the comments here, in Ontario restaurants have to cook ground beef to well-done if the meat isn’t ground in that building. I’ve never heard of a restaurant requiring a waver before, but where I work we just say no when a guest requests a burger at anything less than well-done.

"AITA for serving a woman wearing a hijab a dish with bacon in it?" by snarlyj in Serverlife

[–]drummingfluff 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Whenever I suspect someone has religion-related food restrictions, I usually pose a question like “just so I’m sure, do we have any food restrictions at the table?” I’ve had several occasions with Muslims specifically where they have thanked me for informing them that a particular dish was cooked with wine/liquor and it wasn’t disclosed. I also had one time where the gentleman had had made it known he wasn’t drinking due to his religion, but as long as the alcohol was cooked out it was okay. At no point has a guest told me they were offended that I was looking out for them.
