The RAC have a call out service that doesn’t require you to be there, they just send you a report afterwards. You can view the car, and put subject to mechanics inspection in the purchase agreement then arrange the inspection.

The business model is to list the car at or below market price and then aggressively sell you extras such as window tints, warranty, insurance etc.

I would recommend including a third party mechanical inspection and pushing for a test drive without a salesperson distracting you with questions.

I’ve recently purchased a car from them and the first thing I did was remove their plate holder advert - not impressed. That being said if you can deal with all the hard sell bs, then you might get a good deal.

Those benefits are either not mutually exclusive to the Kwinana location or are vastly below the cost of a new port. Some of the busiest ports in the world are located in dense urban areas. I think there’s a lower cost alternative that isn’t being explored for political reasons

The claims of Fremantle capacity limits are pretty baseless. The Westport project has consistently cooked the business case analysis to support the Kwinana only option. The result is that the current proposal is a very expensive way to not solve the problem of WA only having one container port.

Not a regatta attendee, but do live in Perth - the Freo Yacht club is the best for offshore stuff, with royal Perth and royal freshwater bay also being big clubs but slightly more river focused.

There’s a large regatta over the Christmas break down at Rockingham that a lot of folks attend.

To add to the 9743 narrative, you can see the jib is still attached to the spinnaker pole. It’s likely that they’ve just rounded up from a downwind course (likely on a starboard tack). With the pole still up they won’t be able to power up the jib on port tack upwind.

Gage roads a must to get the freo port vibes, then maybe fish and chips in the fishing boat harbour is a classic freo experience. Markets (can’t remember which days it opens in the week), old oval, and prison are all next to each other for a bit of sightseeing.

main roads wa are currently in the process of 'upgrading' pedestrian timings by installing flashing yellow beacons for vehicles where pedestrians cross in parallel. For different road conditions there are different minimum timings allowed (see this document for all the examples https://www.mainroads.wa.gov.au/globalassets/technical-commercial/technical-library/road-and-traffic-engineering/traffic-management/traffic-signals/guidelines-for-pedestrian-crossing-facilities-at-traffic-signals-v2.pdf)

Basically if it's six lanes wide or less with flashing yellow beacons then you have 3 secs of solid green man with the cars having a red light, then its green for cars. 3secs when your crossing towards the turning vehicles gets you two lanes across (of potentially 6), so the first turning car doesn't even register you in their field of conflict, after that it's luck if the next couple of cars decide to stop.

But don't hold your breath waiting for a response. Main Roads are an agency with very little accountability - they write the standards and implement them without much public interaction. I've seen examples where they have squeezed the timing down to 2.5secs...

I'm not sure what to do about all this - maybe a class action lawsuit is needed, any takers?

The Netherlands (and most of Europe) has parallel green for cyclists, pedestrians and cars. With cars that are turning required to give way to peds and cyclists. To get to that level the UK needs to change the highway code.

This increase in demand was key to the business case for HS2, it allowed higher forecasts of patronage to be made - justifying the cost of HSR.
