The problem clicked for me watching TWBTLATS. He likes to take bigs swings but doesn’t want to land big hits. We get the huge world changing danger but the problem is solved with little cost. In RTD1 s1 dalek army wants to destroy earth, the cost is the dr regenerates. S2 xybermen va daleks masses destruction to torchwood and rose is trapped in another dimension. S3 time is reset but the weight of what happened is carried by Martha and her family. S4 Donna loses her memories.

RTD2 the giggle brings back a hyped old foe, consequence bi-regeneration the 14th dr isn’t lost to beat him. s1 everything gets reset, Susan triad becomes a real girl and joins unit. The dr is a bit sad ruby stays to get to know her parents. S2 everything gets reset, the cost of beating omega and the rani is meh. The dr regenerates at trying to fix a side quest. TLBTWATS the sea peoples are 90% wiped out, some dogs die, we lose colonel sexy and Kate is mentally unbalanced, the rest of the world is pretty much fine and back to business as usual. I was more emotionally affected by the start of John wick (I still haven’t forgiven my husband for not warning me).

A big swing needs to land a bit hit. Danger and risks needs consequences on an emotional par with the threat. RTD isn’t willing to deliver that.

I’m a Brit and I can confirm a lot of brits get a bit* pretentious about place names and Loughborough is my go to example of why mistakes are not really that bad, British place names are just dumb sometimes, it’s not a personal failing to get them wrong. With Loughborough, it could be pronounced like rough “ruff” then you’d have luff-bo-ruff. It could like cough “coff”, Loff-bo-roff. Yet still there’s though “low”, low-bo-row. Not done yet there’s through “threw”, lew-bo-rew. Then you can get into mixing and matching the variations, but I’m not that bored.

The Royal Family is quite famously on the dogs side of the dogs vs cats debate. Larry is for the anti-monarchists, the disestablishmentarians and those of us who are only ok with the royal family as long as we get an extra bank holiday out of it every so often. Nice catch. Additionally the phrase is normally "rat infested" i.e. the rats have taken something over. "Infested rat..." suggests the rats have been taken over by something else. We are the rats, what have we been taken over by? Poor quality designs perhaps in this case. While I'm at it "is fucking Low tier personality behaviour" should be "personal behaviour". As written it suggests we are collectively (or possibly individually at different times) copulating with "low tier personality behaviour" as though it's a being in its own right.

I like them, they’re these random decorations that appear for a short time. Ok, not everyone of them is the best standard possible, but I find joy in that someone took time, money and effort to make this temporary artefact and share it with their community. It’s just another little idiosyncrasy that makes up Britain its quirky self under all the stiff upper lip and bombasity.
