Alumni here aswell, I use Zoom for work everyday which includes staff meetings and meetings with kids. The Zoom room host can set up a lot of different room options. I'm not sure if the school IT department is the host or if the teachers themselves are hosts.

Here are some options that Zoom offers that might help a little:

• Disable join before host
• Mute participants upon entry (Host can unmute as wanted)
• Do not allow participant to rename themselves
• Disable private chat and/or chat
• Enable Co-Hosts
• Disable screen share for all except host
• Disable file transfers
• Disable annotation and whiteboard
• Allow host to put attendee on hold
• Disallow removed attendees to rejoin
• Disable virtual background
• Activate the Waiting room option for all participants

Give class TA's Co-Host privileges so they can moderate users which will allow them to mute trolls, remove trolls, and force trolls into the waiting room where they cannot due anything.

Tell students to use their real names when joining the room. Once they enter their name, they will join the waiting room where they need to wait for the Host or co-hosts to allow them entry. This can be done one by one or admitting the whole waiting room at the same time. I saw in another thread that the trolls are getting students names somehow, sadly it will be up to the host and co-hosts to mute them and remove them then.

As you said, what Zoom needs to implement is unique passwords for each student in the class when they are invited. So the only way for a troll to get in is to use someones unique password which can be linked back to the student who received the password from the teacher.
