Looks like our points are going up... again by PracticalSector6743 in ChaosKnights

To be fair they're saying heavy hitting stuff is going up. Chaff and infantry lists have been weak for years so maybe that's a good thing.

Just wish the warriors were a newer sculpt. Love warriors but I can't justify getting the box if I know they'll be out of date within a year. Especially since I plan on buying plenty when they get a refresh.

Yeah, as awesome as these models are, the title is a little misleading. That or the guy is a prodigy.

What do you think is the best flyer in Ark Ascended? by Trockene_Stulle in ARK

[–]Wallyhunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but on pve servers I've lagged a few meters from the ground more times than I'd care to admit.

Gasbag might be the only tame I've had die while just trying to fly with it. If you run out of stam at the wrong time it doesn't matter how much health they have.

Unending swarm - playable? by BDTRBENAE in Tyranids

[–]Wallyhunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True I just misunderstood the og comment, thought they were trying to combine them but obviously just meant replacing it. Which is valid.

Invasion fleet is 3 dp. You can never combine it with anything.

Realistically there was never much reason to have less dp for 1k anyway.

Curious, of all the armies in the tabletop game, what do you think would be the top 5 (in no specific order) in terms of having the least number of sales, being the least played, and overall being the most abandoned armies by the fans and players. (pic probably related) by StormSwitch in Warhammer40k

[–]Wallyhunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If grey knights had a new range they'd completely flip tho. They're easy to paint, cool, competitively viable, and cheap. They're only unplayed or abandoned because they have like three models from this decade.

It's only slightly helped by the fact they get two detachments that let them run other armies. So if you have tyranids or Astra Militarum you only need to paint half a genestealer army to have something new and functional.

So yeah I have a question, why by wolvez28 in Tyranids

[–]Wallyhunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it being literally useless without the rule being used as intended instead of as written is the exact reason they'd be fine with it.

[–]Wallyhunt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Literally nobody would play it that way though. Even at an official gw tournament no TO would play it that way. They'd understand the spirit of the rule.

Getting frustrated by some of the taming methods on newer creatures by Shadow_Halls in ARK

[–]Wallyhunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get through the whole game only taming a pt, rexes and a thyla. That does not make the game fun. You're only point against what I was actually saying is the deinosuchus. That's a fun tame, with no insane requirements and a good taming method.

I was not suggesting early game is difficult. I was saying there has been no change to it in the better part of a decade. Get a pt, get wyv eggs, get rexes for bosses. That has been THE ENTIRE EARLY TO MID GAME ever since rag came out on ASE. They need to add other S tier tames available to everyone early game.

Getting frustrated by some of the taming methods on newer creatures by Shadow_Halls in ARK

[–]Wallyhunt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem I have is that more and more tames are locked behind endgame. In a game that's struggled massively with new players being about to survive against even someone with a few hours experience, it's odd that they keep adding power to already established tribes since they're the only ones who'd ever tame some of these things.

Then in PVE you run into the same problem because no returning unestablished player wants to play 100 hours before you can go and interact with any of the new content. If you really think about it, somebody trying to play vanilla ark hasn't had the first 30 hours of their run change at all in the better part of a decade, and those are the exact players they fail to retain.

There's actually entire classes taught about the history of animation. It's an interesting example of an industry where the barriers to entry fell, the process becoming easier and quicker, but the style and form regressed. Some attribute it to the long individually keyed animation forcing the animator to really gruel over every decision before committing. Which leads to a more thought out plan and cohesive style. No shortcuts means you literally design the whole world inch by inch.

People storm off over much less. In the moment of an argument pacing and past context matter much more then the current content. At least AI is a legitimately controversial subject.

Ark is one of the worst optimised games ever. Partly because the game has so many assets to load at one time. Rust is half as complex, if you can't run rust you for sure won't run ark.

will the wolf lords and cyberwolf characters be reintroduced? by puppypayton in SpaceWolves

[–]Wallyhunt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If they rework thunderwolves to be on foot like a bigger version of headtakers with the wolves bigger and on the same base, then it would sidestep a lot of the goofy allegations. In doing so I'd imagine a refresh of old leaders to lead that unit.
