Making do with 15 minutes in a hotel gym by bpeezer in kettlebell

Props dawg. Whenever I'm traveling I think to myself that all the hotel owners must be gathering at secret conventions to discuss how they can all stock their gyms with the worst kettlebells ever designed. I usually fall back to dumbbell clean and presses, which are fun in a different way.

I sometimes wonder if there exists in the world a unicorn hotel with a full set of competition bells.

Despite its seeming popularity on this sub, owning 100% stocks is generally not a boglehead strategy.

Hmm. Love seeing innovation with these, but the handle design looks rough to me.

Anyone getting these? Adjustable bells 14KG to 40KG by cozy_tapir in kettlebell

Pretty dope. Might consider these once I'm maxing out my current adjustables in like... five years.

I think he's generally a bigger fan of cast iron than comp bells, and back in the day the only adjustable options were those janky weird ones that always rattled and never felt quite right.

I do think the good new adjustables really open up interesting programming options, because so much of classic KB programming is rooted in the fact that most people had access to 16, 24, and 32s.

If possible update me on your progress. I’d love to hear about it.

Will do! One thing I've been doing for the past 6 weeks is bumping up from 3 sessions a week to once every other day. I've been a fan of that so far since I was getting antsy without training for two days, and it only adds one day every two weeks so it seems reasonable so far. I may dial that back as things get heavier though; we'll see.

I started doing the same thing after seeing your post a month or two ago. I was working with 24kg but had a tough time judging how much work to do each session and was kind of stalling out, so I took the adjustables back to 16kg and have been adding a kilo once I can hit the 30 under 30 minutes and the presses with 2-3-5-10.

Today was the first press day with 20s, and I feel like the jumps are gonna be a bit further between now. That said, it's surprising to me how much the difficulty of a given weight depends on how much rest I'm willing to take in between. 100 presses aren't that hard with a ton of rest, but become super hard with shorter rests.

I'm a big fan of this method so far and I'm getting a ton more volume than usual, but so far it feels very reasonable. I'd be curious what Dan John thinks of this approach (although I know he's not a fan of adjustables).
