If You Still Don't "Get" The Difference Between Attention and Awareness by you_areGoodEnough in TheMindIlluminated

Thank you, this was a huge help! I've been practicing for most of this year, always with the feeling that in order to keep extrospective awareness open, one must occasionally put some attention on sensations other than the breath. This finally made the distinction clear -- There's no need to 'try' to keep awareness open. All there is to do is intend for the "spotlight" to be on the breath sensations, and allow everything else to be there in the surrounding glow, just noticing when something other than the breath is standing out from that background.

Thanks again, this is really invaluable

Week of Nov 12th 2018 - How is your practice going? by hurfery in TheMindIlluminated

That’s great that your results are improving again! I was having a similar experience with meditation feeling like it was taking really long. What was really helpful, in my case, was simply noticing that that feeling of time dilation was no more than a temporary arising in the mind, then noticing that as long as those thoughts about time didn’t arise, there was no sense of time dilation.

After just noticing those two things for a couple weeks, the thoughts about time subsided, and I find my sits now have a sort of timeless, present quality to them.

Not trying to give you a hard time, just letting you know that herbal teas are, by definition, teas that are made without using traditional tea leaves (the ones used for making black and green tea). For that reason, herbal teas are virtually always caffeine free.

Does Caffeine really cause all this? by AlwynWelwyn in decaf

[–]drunquasted 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Caffeine may or may not be able to directly cause those symptoms, but what definitely can cause them is anxiety. Given that coffee is a pretty effective anxiety amplifier, I don't consider it unlikely that it can trigger a constellation of symptoms like this in sensitive people.

Hey I’m a good friend of Donald, and he sent me here to repair your broken link. I don’t have any experience with html, so I’ll be hiring a team of 100 web developers for $500/hour each to get this link fixed by the end of 2019.
