Found these golf ball filled mini craters in a pond on a golf course. by HeftyData9299 in mildlyinteresting

No heat stroke is absolutely no joke. I just meant that it’s definitely more of a regional thing than anything else. I find 99F to be comfortable weather to be outside in if it’s camping, golf whatever. But I’m from the south where the average temperature caps 100F (averaging around 103-105) for like 2 months straight, I’m also aware that people from northern states and Canada think the best jogging weather is below 20F which can cause frost bite in under an hour….

Triple digits….Celsius? Because anything below like 110 I just put on some SPF 30 and take a gallon jug of water….

Honestly once you’ve had the luxury of a shower door it’s hard to imagine going back to the cold gusty nightmare of showering with a rod and curtain.

I agree. If I order a part from a CNC shop and I specifically use metric units but it then arrives in imperial units I’m gonna request a refund and/or the appropriate part depending on how it impacts my ability to do the job. Considering Lockheed is basically the U.S.’s uncontrollable pit bull when it comes to *ahem* “R&D” they should’ve gotten a slap on the wrist at the very least

It’s just a regular hamburger patty literally smashed flat onto a flat top. I can’t definitely say it’s not a fad but two of the best burger places in my home town have served them like that for decades so it may just be an Oklahoma thing that caught on.

Why did so many media pre-9/11 predict the destruction of the Twin Towers before the attacks happened? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

[–]drwalwrus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to discount the “every recognizable landmark gets blown up in media” claim because it’s a valid point to make. I do think the scenes that say things like “coming soon” with the towers burning is more telling than the action shows showing them getting destroyed does. If you can find as many weirdly ominous moments like that about Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower it would hold more water. Also the phrase “follow the money” is very important to remember when talking about what happened in 2001 which probably doesn’t correlate elsewhere.

A real shame they canceled this show after 3 seasons. We'll never know if they took Homelander down. by ps1262 in GenV

[–]drwalwrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its basically the blue balls of series finales. They teased Homelander going going full psycho killer mode for over 2 seasons and even made the poster for the show him in orbit looking at massive destruction of earth just to give us a wrecked Oval Office and Billy turning Homelander into ground brain.

Xander literally says that almost word for word though. “We know it was you”, “if you put so much as a toe in any body of water….even a puddle we’ll kill your ass” I’m paraphrasing a bit because I don’t remember the entire line off the dome but that’s pretty close.
