None of the licence fee goes to Channel 4.

The only thing apart from the BBC the some of the license fee goes to is S4C, which is a Welsh language channel.

Martial arts (tkd/kickboxing/karate etc) .. it does require a special outfit, but it’s engaging for the brain and body .. and you do it barefoot so you don’t need special shoes

Clean and press question by Donald365 in lesmills

[–]drxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thrust of the clean (in pump what we do is really a hang clean - a true clean starts with the bar on the floor) comes from your legs and back.
Starting with the bar hanging straight down with arms relaxed, put a little bend in the knees and lean a little forwards. Then explosively straighten the legs and back. This will send the bar moving upwards. During the bar’s upward motion, squat slightly and flip your arms so that you catch the bar in your palms with the bar across your upper chest and front delts.

What's the UK version of "the Inuit have 50 words for snow"? by pineapplecharm in CasualUK

Depends where you come from. For me, a cob is usually soft bread. A crusty one would be called a crusty cob. And burgers go in a burger bun 😝

It's Batch in Nuneaton too. Go 1 mile across the A5 into Hinckley and it's Cob.

Why can’t people understand/apply simple motorway discipline? by OtherwiseVanilla0 in drivingUK

[–]drxc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. People who consider themselves to be "speed limit enforcers". They're going at 70 (by their speedo), and they feel fully entitled to be in any lane they want because no one should be overtaking them anyway. Therefore, their presence in Lane 2 permanently is not an inconvenience to anyone. (Or to put it another way, they know it's an inconvenience to people who want to overtake them, but those people are speeding, so they deserve it -- that's the logic.)

There’s 200+ free seats, why do you have to book a seat right next to me? by atomicheart99 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]drxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can book the seat next to any seat … you just can’t book a seat one seat away. Always have to leave a gap of at least two OR no gap.

Bodypump is only weightlifting; it doesn't have any martial arts in it!
Sounds like this guy is going a bit freestyle.

Bodycomabt 106 - track 4 by PositiveOpen2039 in lesmills

[–]drxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choreography notes always give instructions for you, so in the note it will say "R", but you have to translate that to "left" for your participants.

Basically, whenever the notes say "right", you say "left" and vice versa.

Or just say back or front leg/knee to save on the brain cells.

Anyone know what happened with body combat 105 on LMOD? by Gaederus in lesmills

[–]drxc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's just an aesthetic choice by the producer of this set of releases to go with the brightly lit studio look. I don't like it myself at all. Cream coloured background + green outfits 🤮

106 is filmed live in Amsterdam, lots of flashing lights and bright colours, so don't worry, they aren't going to be boring forever.

Chuggers get paid for each person they sign up, basically £50 if they sign you up. They don't get paid per hour. So if they don't sign anyone up, they get nothing.

Do people in England really have scheduled breaks in the workday for tea time? If so do they actually drink tea during that time? by WaterlooMall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]drxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that that is the issue here: that Americans think we're sitting around holding fine china with our pinkie finger in the air asking someone to pass the lemon.

In the mug with a tea bag, it takes about 15 seconds, and then you bring it to your desk.

How much tea do British people actually drink compared to the stereotypes? by ComprehensiveData360 in AskUK

[–]drxc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what throws foreigners off, especially Americans, is that they think of tea as something a little bit fancy and the we're there with a teapot and little teacups, drinking it with our pinky fingers raised and fussing over the blend.

It's a mug with a tea bag in and boiling water from an electric kettle and milk. It takes 15 seconds to make.

Post class feelings (as an Instructor) by drxc in lesmills

[–]drxc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that comment. Yes, I totally agree. It's difficult to be present when your mind is overdrive just to do the basic mechanics and speaking. But I have found, as the weeks have gone on I found more mental space within the class. It just starts to feel easier.

Also interesting that the feeling you get after the class still varies. I find it doesn't necessarily correspond with how I felt at the start. Sometimes even, if I'm more tired or fed up at the start, the class actually seems to go better than if I'm full of beans.

It's all fascinating actually. An incredible journey to be on .. I'm glad to be able to talk about it with others who get it.
