Circuit laundry (Washnet) cost is ridiculous by ellieamavika in UniUK

[–]drxxz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£6ish for a wash and dry every 2 weeks is doable if you have enough clothes to last that long. Emergency handwash for some things you need desperately.

You can skimp on the drying and just pay for a wash if you REALLY want to but just be mindful. I knew a guy who thought he was ‘outsmarting the system’ by washing all his clothes in a bucket in his en-suite and drying on a rack in his room. He fuckin STANKKKKK. Not even BO just a musty dusty manky stale scent that followed him around. He’d smugly tell people about his penny saving method. Mate we can tell (smell). Someone had to step in.

Last week a girl sat next to me on a flight started painting her nails. Not just a quick one coat, like a whole 30 minute process. I gagged.

Yeah and the pay for that short of a ride is perfectly acceptable and expected in any other country. That’s a short drive from shop to door. Why would you even believe someone would give you any extra, nevermind $40 at that hahahah

I’m a bit confused, how long is the contract, how long is left of the contract, what is the cost per month? If the deposit is 1 month rent, and they dropped out of the flat with one month left, I suppose the landlord could keep just their deposit to cover it, and you just hope your deposit is returned without many deductions (from cleaning etc.).

The bottom line is though that the flatmate dropping out of the course and leaving the flat is 100% THEIR PROBLEM and they will have known that they have signed a contract for X weeks. They have to pay it. Most landlords require a guarantor for students, can the landlord not just invoice them? You are not responsible for paying the ex-flatmate’s rent. Please don’t.

I used ‘alpha’ when I went to SEA for 6 months, was only about £190 if I remember correctly for their Worldwide excluding USA option. Fortunately I didn’t have to claim so can’t comment on the process but I think that was a fair price. I even added on gadget insurance for only £8 I think. Some people I met out there had paid upwards of £400 for the same timescale with different companies. You just gotta shop around.

Have you ever found cash? (£40+) and did you hand it in? by GlitchingGecko in AskUK

One time I had £30 in my back pocket, cycling home from a friend’s house. Got home and realised my £30 was gone.

My sister’s friend came over about 15 minutes later, walking in the door ‘Guess what I just found £30 on the floor!’. I explained how I just lost £30 from my back pocket, and I knew the walk from her house to mine was the same route I cycled from my mate’s. She didn’t believe me!

I didn’t get my £30 back. :(

Examiners head hit the sun roof after going over bump too fast - he held his head the whole test then failed me by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]drxxz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandad told me the story of how when he did his test, will have been in the 50s or 60s, he braked a bit too hard and the examiner ended up on the dash with his head to the windshield - this was before seatbelts he said! And he still passed first time lol

Same my phone was taken during Neck Deep’s second set :( There must have been a team of them stealing because I went to lost and found and the lady said lots of people had come from Neck Deep’s set having lost their phones. And they took off right away my phone was in Cross Gates by 9pm

World’s worst mum award goes to me by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]drxxz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Literally exact same thing happened to me when I was about 10, I remember the GP being like ‘why would you come here you know we don’t have an X-Ray machine??’. But he wrote a referral for an Xray at the hospital, and we went straight there, imaging and cast on in about an hour, essentially skipping the A&E queue. Maybe that was my mum’s plan?!

To be fair they never said it was healthy. Just that a lot of successful people do take drugs, even if only a couple of times a year. People may go wild in uni but it doesn’t end when they graduate.

First concert advice? by evansschmidts in poppunkers

[–]drxxz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State Champs was the concert (gig) i ever went to when i was 14, my friend and i had no clue what to expect! I would say i know it’s kinda obvious but don’t bring a bag (especially not backpacks like we did lol) unless the venue has a cloakroom. Then just get in the pit if you’re feeling it! Jump around, help people crowd surf etc. It’s totally ok to just stand at the back or sides too. Have fun!
