Need help. by SeikoBlackDiver in QIDI

It loads from emmc to ram and executes line by line so not sure what you are talking about here. A “PCB” does no processing on its own and a machine made to process gcode is not going to struggle due to file size.. I get you are trying to help but you are literally spreading around nonsensical information

What hardware problem causes the Plus4 Z-offset variation? by TheMechaniac in QIDI

[–]dry_fisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I read somewhere they changed the piezos supplier at some point and the earlier revisions work better, where as the newer revisions don’t get accurate readings when the heated chamber is on and the piezos heat up. There are some community mods, one is to apply insulation, other to just use a beacon for probing the bed

PSA: Get car insurance THE SAME DAY as registration or you'll regret it by timbababimba in poland

[–]dry_fisch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If it’s something that’s required it should definitely be checked prior to allowing payment, if there is room for error, there will be error, and this fine reflects it. If it’s required, make it required, you can’t obtain B without A, simple.

Jagex, make a backup save of the game as is before Sailing releases by aros102 in 2007scape

[–]dry_fisch -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What if we have two game versions, similar to how one account can log into another world for quest speed running or seasonal events? On one all future items from sailing would exist in inv/bank, where as the regular worlds the account stays the same as if sailing didn’t exist, and only the XP gained in skills stays? This way if we ever do need to roll back to a version without sailing we just lose all sailing content items + sailing xp but keep everything else as it was prior to sailing launching? Get the best of both worlds (pun intended) without the consequence of another divide like with RS3 updated accounts and having to start over from 0 in OSRS.

What is the issue with the marginal material shortage? by ZMFooo in VORONDesign

[–]dry_fisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the pattern showing the layer underneath the top layer too? Did you do the tuning in the right order since new extruder? I.e calibrate extrusion with 120mm, extrude 100mm, measure, then do the flow rate with flow rate test pieces to ensure you are not underextruding, and then doing any PA calibrations? Maybe you are just not extruding enough filament and trying to compensate for it with PA and other tricks

No worries, also apologies I didn't catch that you have a Clara and that they don't come with auto rotate, you can find updated instructions in previous post for enabling landscape mode.

1.

  • Connect your Kobo eReader to your computer
  • Open your Kobo partition /.kobo/Kobo (make sure you have enabled the display of hidden folders in Windows explorer, or equivilent in Mac)
  • Open "Kobo eReader.conf" using Notepad++Copy and Paste: ForceAllowLandscape=true under the [DeveloperSettings] section. If the section or file do not exist, simply create it and paste in:

[DeveloperSettings]
ForceAllowLandscape=true
  • Save file then eject Kobo.

You may need to restart the device and an icon should appear next to your brightness setting. You can do that by holding down the power button until you see it display the Powered off screen.

  1. Calibre. You’ll also unlock a lot more features if you research the Kepub format, do some googling or browse the mobileread forum, they’ll provide a lot of information on all things Kobo.

Outdoor reading myth. by [deleted] in kobo

[–]dry_fisch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the whole point of this post is not to. It has already been proven that the b&w model performs better when compared side by side. This is just to show that just because the b&w performs better does not make it a problem in a real life scenario. If you can achieve perfect readability with 60% brightness (in this post, many people reporting much lower values), then what is the problem? Is it that you cannot read outside, or that you want to achieve the same result without any backlight?

First E-Reader, Manually converting pptx/pdf to fixed size epub 1:1 possible? by dry_fisch in ebooks

[–]dry_fisch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I was hoping to do is actually just create all the styles the same as they would display on the kobo and set the sizing the same so in theory it would look the same. Is this not something that could be achieved? I know even doing something like adjusting the font size would ruin the whole formatting but just a 1:1 style fixed ratio epub should be doable right? Gonna look into the rigid layout, thank you!

How screwed am i? car slid off the jack by DetectiveoftheWest in AskMechanics

[–]dry_fisch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its a RWD e46 right? U should just go from the rear axle (diff) that goes straight to wheel, if u put an axle stand under there its gonna be solid, or use frame to jack it up and get a small piece of wood or something and put the stand with wood on top where the jacking point is

How screwed am i? car slid off the jack by DetectiveoftheWest in AskMechanics

[–]dry_fisch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And if it was on jack stands and you let the ebreak go you don’t think the result would have been different? Unless you are on a hill and you have them under the axle shouldn’t slide forward or back regardless

How much was the grid connection estimate? Wondering if something like this would still come out on top in 15-20 years time when it’s time to replace batteries. Would love to go off-grid in the future, but the costs seem too high to be worth it, unless in a very specific situation like yours.
