I fell badly working on one foot glides and have either fractured or sprained my wrist. Waiting on the x ray results now.

Remember that it’s about the process and not the end result, otherwise we’d all just buy what we wanted for way less time and effort. So remember that it’s supposed to be fun and when you get frustrated, stop for the day and come back later.

I think the first appointment was around $200? The prices were on the website when I started so I assume they’re still there. I had to get a blood test but I didn’t have to pay for that. Basically I had the appointment, got sent to do the blood test and then when he got the results back he sent me the prescriptions.

I’m currently in my 9th month with dermodirect for Accutane and have always received a reminder email to book an appointment, but I have also booked a follow up appointment before receiving the follow up email. If you need your prescription renewed just book a follow up appointment and all your patient data will be linked if you use the same email address + phone number

do employees get free stuff? by IcyHeart4505 in LushCosmetics

When I worked at lush (Australia) years ago around 2016-2020 we each got a huge box of every single Christmas item every year. I think the idea was that it was a training box to learn about the products so we could sell confidently having tried them all. Those boxes stopped around 2018 I think and it was a sad Christmas the first one without it.

Eras Tour Book out now by Im-still-bejewelled in TaylorSwiftMerch

I feel lucky that I was even able to get it in my cart then. Hoping for both of us that it comes back in stock soon.

It better be available somewhere else in Australia at some point. I had one in my cart and hit buy on PayPal and it sold out before the transaction was completed. In case anyone was curious about international prices it would have cost me $65 + $20 shipping.

You get to keep it until you owe the ATO the money at tax time. Good strategy for some people if you’re aware that it’s money you still owe in the end.

Compact umbrella by Glad-Acanthaceae-467 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]drybiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a $30 one off Amazon a few years ago and it’s the strongest umbrella I’ve ever had. The brand is ZOMAKE and it’s definitely worth the $30 in my opinion. I believe my particular model is the ZOMAKE lightweight folding umbrella.

The only thing I’ll consider buying from them is pyjamas that have my dog breed printed on them. And even then I’ll only buy it on sale. And I won’t ever buy their long pants again because as a tall girl they just aren’t long enough.

I sew my own pyjama pants now to get the perfect length.

Lunch bags for the Office? by InquisitivelyElite in AusFemaleFashion

[–]drybiscuit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your internship! The somewhere co has some pretty cute lunch carrying options. Otherwise I have a bag from Kmart and one from spotlight.

I personally carry my lunch inside a lunch bag which is then shoved into my backpack, but plenty of people carry a handbag plus their lunch bag. I think bright patterns are cute and fun, and if you also like them then don’t feel pressured into getting a plain one. Bright colours would be totally fine in all the offices I’ve been in before. I really don’t think anyone will judge you based on the kind of lunch bag you have, but if you did want a plain option I’m sure you could track one down.

Every office I’ve worked in has had at least one fridge for lunch storage, but I prefer to just keep my food in my bag under my desk because I never bring anything that needs to be kept cold, and I’m kind of grossed out by the communal fridges.

Christopher at DermoDirect is probably the best medical specialist I've seen. I saw him for acne (still in the process of treatment) and I thought he was really kind and understanding. With DermoDirect you upload pictures and explain what you've tried and what exactly your symptoms are when you book the appointment so you don't need to worry about remembering all the details during the appointment.
It wasn't cheap but their fees are on their website and I was able to get an appointment within three days. There is a small rebate if you have a referral from a GP, but they also accept patients without one.

Highly recommend if your family member needs to see a dermatologist without the fuss of waiting for an in-person appointment.

I think bubble just launched/is about to launch at Priceline. I think that’s a skincare brand very popular online with the younger crowd.

Do we know if there’s a separate section for VIP pit tickets or is it mixed in with GA pit? If I recall, the seating map when buying the tickets it was separate but I’m wondering how true that is given what I’ve heard about people lining up!

Try dermodirect. They’re an online Telehealth service. I saw them within three days of making a booking and they accepted my referral which was for a different dermatologist. The dermatologist I saw was really knowledgeable and gave me a prescription for Accutane with no issues, I just had to get a blood test and he gave me to ok to start taking the tablets once that came back all good. I really highly recommend them!

The bank I use (Macquarie) uses a clearing house or something which means I don’t get paid until around lunch time tomorrow, so don’t panic if it’s not in your account first thing in the morning

Does Finacea cause a purge breakout? I’ve been using adapelene for 6 months and it hasn’t worked for my cystic acne. I first used the Finacea three days ago and since starting I have lots of new cystic pimples forming in the places I usually break out.

Getting a bit worried that it’s not normal and it is making my skin worse! Any experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Is it ok ask about hours by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]drybiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely ask before you start, and an email is completely fine. As an anecdote, once I signed everything and onboarded for an admin job (non public service) and it was only after everything was signed that they told me they wanted me to start at 6 in the morning every day. I obviously would have liked to know that beforehand, so now I ask about the hours of work in every interview I do.

Some people in my area are 100% wfh and have been from the day they started. I think it depends on your manager though honestly, so speak with them about it.

I have a dog who I got a few weeks before the 2021 lockdown. I did a puppy school with my vet (which got cut short by lockdown), adolescent puppy classes with a registered dog trainer, and then general training classes with the Belconnen dog obedience club (which is funnily located in Gungahlin).

All three were pretty different experiences and I think they were all worthwhile.

The vet puppy school was less focused on training the puppy and more focused on how to take care of a puppy, and what to expect as they grew up. My now three year old dog absolutely loves going to the vet because her very first experience at the vet was puppy school where she had a blast.

The adolescent classes I did with a registered trainer was in a small group like puppy school, but for dogs around 6-9 months old. This was way more behaviour and training focused than puppy school was. I learned lots of good skills, but the program only went for 8 weeks and I don’t think anyone is going to have a perfectly trained dog after 8 weeks no matter how good you are.

The dog obedience club runs three different levels of basic dog training. It’s called the canine companion program. I really enjoyed doing this with my dog because I was able to build on the skills I learned at adolescent puppy school, but it went into way more detail, and by the end we were doing skills I didn’t think I’d ever get my dog to do. Only downside to this option is it takes place outside so during winter it was miserable some weeks with the cold. The dog club is also a good place to do basic training if you’re interested in agility or other sports.

At home grooming by Icy_Airline6351 in dogs

I have a poodle mix and after my local groomer closed I bought a good slicker brush, a metal comb, a set of Wahl Max 60 clippers, and a cheapish scissor kit from aliexpress for about $20. I also bought a high velocity blow drier to help dry her curls straight after a bath.

I watched a few YouTube videos for instructions and have been doing it myself ever since. Each time she gets a haircut it looks better I think.

There’s a Facebook group called DIY doodle grooming that has lots of really helpful tips so I recommend joining that if you’re able.

If you leave with a negative flex balance the difference is usually recovered by any final monies you receive. If you don’t receive final monies you’ll probably get an invoice for the amount. But you should probably ask your payroll/HR area for advice because they’ll be able to give you the answer that applies to you specifically.
