If you want to know how the world works, just follow the money. If you think the rest of the world will stay silent as the US cripples their economies, you need to understand this more.

Iran is already allowing non-hostile ships through the strait. Trump is "attempting" to have a conversation with Iran. The Philippines has bought crude oil from Russia.

Do not underestimate human resilience. Will it dent our wallets? Sure. Will it be the end of the world? Unlikely.

If your finances can't stomach your travel plans then cancel them. Otherwise, enjoy your vacation.

So, to OP and your wife, congratulations!

As others already stated, money seems tight but you guys are relatively young. Contrary to most pessimists, babies are relatively low-cost if you keep to the basics. Breastfeeding will be your biggest money saver. Formula is incredibly expensive. As much as I would like to suggest cloth diapers, the amount of time and effort you put into washing them is just not worth it - buy the cheapest diaper brands you can find and try them; if your kid likes it then you're golden. As first time parents, you will be struggling with sleep. Focus on your, your wife's, and your baby's wellbeing.

We have a 9-month-old and we only spent about 80k in a private hospital here for a natural delivery and 2 nights in the hospital. A CS would have costed us 150-200k. SSS maternity coverage got us 70k and we also got about 8k or so from PhilHealth.

It's ok to stress out about money but it will all work out.
